Howell holds joint lead with nine to play in Abu Dhabi
DAVID Howell is within touching distance of his first European Tour title in seven years following the opening nine holes at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship today.
The Broome Manor pro, who last triumphed at Wentworth in 2006, holds the joint lead with Justin Rose on 12-under at the turn.
That followed a storming start to the final round which saw the Swindon player complete the front nine on four-under-par.
Howell, who has won the Ryder Cup twice with Europe, has four European Tour wins to date.
