MASSIMO Luongo insists there is still more to come from him after agreeing to return to Swindon Town on season-long loan.

The youngster spent the final two months of last season at the County Ground, but has now signed on for the entire 2013/14 campaign and becomes a major addition to Kevin MacDonald’s new-look squad.

The Australian impressed during his initial loan spell, but believes he has more to give and is hopeful MacDonald will be able to bring the best out of him.

“There is always more to come from me, and when I’m feeling confident I pull other things out the bag and my performance gets better,” he said.

“At the moment I’m confident because I know the club and I know the other boys, so hopefully that will help me bring out other stuff on the pitch.

“I want to try and score more goals and shoot more, and last season every time I got the ball I was asked to drive with it and try to make something happen.

“Normally at Tottenham I’m the sort of player who sits a bit deeper and plays it around, but I have it in me to drive and the manager helps bring that out of me.”

Luongo always knew there was a chance he could return to the County Ground if he was still at Tottenham come the end of the summer transfer window, but admitted he didn’t expect to return to Wiltshire so early in pre-season.

“Tottenham mentioned to me that a few of the other boys were coming to Swindon, and I probably have the best chance of playing regular football at this club which is important for me,” he said.

“I am happy to be back here because I enjoyed it last year, and I am familiar with the whole place and comfortable around the ground which helps and makes things easier.

“I didn’t expect to be back so early, although I thought maybe if I was still at Tottenham it would be a big possibility I would come back, and it’s good to be here.

“It’s good to have a long time to get used to the players I am playing with and get used to the team, and there is a sort of fitness you need for this league.

“I was fortunate going to Tottenham and doing pre-season there, so I haven’t experienced a league one before, but coming from Australia we are used to that sort of thing.

“The manager here works us hard and the first session was hard, but he does put the ball in too so that suits me.”
