TILLY Gray has today learned that she will race in both the 100m and 200m butterfly at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The former Swindon Dolphin swimmer had originally been included in the England squad purely as a 200m competitor but, following a withdrawal, she will now kick off her meeting in the 100m heats on Thursday.

Gray was delighted by the news, telling the Advertiser: “I got the call this morning. One of my teammates isn’t swimming it, I was next in line and I jumped at the chance. The exciting thing about the 100m is there’s heats, semis and finals. I think I’ve got a good shot at making the semi, it’ll be great experience and a chance to blow away any cobwebs.

“I usually go into meets having both events and it was one of my worries that the 200m was going to be all or nothing, so it’s going to be nice to get stuck into the 100m and get the chance to prepare in the normal way I would do for the 200m."
