SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb is hoping to sign up striker Bradley Gray today.

The striker has been back at the Webb’s Wood Stadium side over the last couple of weeks after spending the early part of the summer at Hungerford Town.

Gray, who was part of South Marston side that reached the Southern League Division One South and West play-offs last year, was on target in Supermarine’s 2-2 pre-season friendly draw with Conference South side Basingstoke Town.

And with Webb heading off on holiday tomorrow, the manager is keen to get the striker signed up before he goes.

“I’m hoping to get him signed up on Monday,” Webb said. “I’ll be speaking to him and want to get it done before I go.”

Supermarine went into Saturday’s match missing 10 players and Webb had called on Steve Yeardley and Rich Carter from Wootton Bassett Town to help make up the number.

Basingstoke took the lead in the opening 15 minutes at the Webb’s Wood Stadium through Manny Williams.

However, a Josh Morse free-kick found stand-in skipper Ross Adams, who’s header was cleared off the line for Gray to pounce and slot home.

Supermarine took the lead in the second half through triallist Khatape Fall before Sam Argent levelled matters late on.

“It was a great performance all things considered,” Webb said. “Khatape is someone who has just arrived at training and we don’t know too much about him.

“He is a big lad and is doing OK. He hustled his way in to get a goal so we will continue to have a look at him.”

Shrivenham won their pre-season friendly derby with Purton 3-0 on Saturday morning.

The Barrington Park side opened the scoring through Steve Robertson, with Adam Corcoran and Josh Fowler adding the others.

Fairford Town fell to a 4-0 defeat in their friendly match with Western League Division One side Chippenham Park.
