SWINDON Spitfires United remain top of the Wiltshire County League following an emphatic 23-1 win at basement side Market Lavington.

From the first minute United were ahead, as Georgia Leonard’s pass found Mel Bristow to strike past the keeper for the first of her eight goals.

Four minutes later Leonard doubled the advatange from the edge of trhe area before Michelle Maull-Hutfield found Bristow to slot home.

Leonard bagged her second on 17 minutes to make it 4-0 before Bristow sealed her hat-trick.

Claire Morton put United 6-0 up on 25 minutes before Leonard netted her third with the hosts grabbing a consolation goal.

Strikes from Lisa Curtis and Jemma Harrison sent the visitors in at the break 9-1 up.

Carla Compton bagged the first of 14 second half goals for the visitors in a fine display.

United’s goalscorers were Carla Compton (3), Caroline Hook (1), Claire Morton (3), Georgia Leonard (3), Jemma Harrison (2), Lisa Curtis (1), Mel Bristow (8) and Rachel Eley (2) Spitfires Development side had a tough second 45 minutes encounter with FC Chippenham.

After having the better of the play and looking the better side in the first half, two goals in the final five minutes of the half saw Chippenham take a flattering lead.

But an Emily Sparkes effort reduced the deficit just before the break.

However Spitfires went to pieces in the second half, conceding a further 5 goals playing into the wind as Chippenham ran out 7-1 winners.

Highworth Town and Swindon Town development played out a goalless draw at the Elms with Pamella Harris, Alex Baker and Libby Hale all going close for the hosts.
