LAST season’s beaten Adver Cup finalists Avtar Construction are determined to get their hands on the trophy this time out, and made the perfect start with a 12-1 win over North Swindon WMC.

Avtar, formerly known as Queensfield, are looking to put right the wrongs of five months ago, and with Fratellos, who won the final 3-1, folding over the summer their chances are even higher.

Pete Smith’s side have made an unbeaten start to the season and sit top of the Swindon & District Premier Division with five wins from five.

It was a daunting task in hand for Division One outfit North Swindon and four goals from Shane Hibbert set the hosts on the way to the next round.

Daniel Hiscocks, Aaron Welland and Jason McGovern all scored braces for Avtar to add to goals from Roger Mundy and Phillip Mapstone to secure the one-sided result.

Swindon did get a consolation goal in the second half when Avtar’s keeper failed to deal with a strike from Kray Dunn from outside the box.

“To be fair, and no disrespect to North Swindon, it was an easy game for us,” said Smith.

“We are playing really well at the moment and we seem to be scoring goals for fun in both the league and the cup.

“There are a few good teams in the cup but we want to win it this year after missing out last season to Fratellos.

“In the final we had a few players who were ineligible to play so we had to change it around a bit, including myself playing at centre back and got beaten, which was a bit hard to take and now we want to win it.”

Meanwhile Ramsbury completed a cup upset as the Division One side beat Old Town United, who sit third in the Premier Division, in an 11 goal thriller.

A hat-trick for Glen Mackenzie added to a brace from Stephen Lloyd and a solo effort from Matthew Darvell, in the closing minutes, to secure the win.

Swiss Chalet Rangers were also on the wrong end of a cup scalp as they lost 5-4 to Division One side The Clifton.

The Clifton came back from two goals down with strikes from Daniel Lonley, Joe Gentleman and Adam Bedwell adding to a brace from Jake Kitchin.

In the all Premier Division contest Spectrum came out 4-1 winners over DJC Marlborough.

Eddie Allsopp, Aaron Northcott, Eduardo Da Silva and Andy Higgins all getting on the score-sheet for the visitors.

A replay will be needed to decide the winner of the other all Premier Division contest as Village Inn and Shield & Dagger played out a 3-3 draw.

Division One leaders KS Miltax completed a comfortable 5-2 victory over Redhouse with Adam Klups, Artur Frydrych, Kamil Fiedorowicz and Marcin Kowalski all netting in the first half for the visitors.

In the final tie of the weekend Bassett Bulldogs were 4-2 winners over fellow Division One side Swindon Spitfires with Jason Hudson and Andy Adams both scoring braces.
