TOWN boss Mark Cooper was reluctant to give a diagnosis on the extent of Louis Thompson's shoulder injury until he had been through all the correct medical assessments after the midfielder was stretchered off during today's goalless draw at Crewe.

Thompson departed with around 20 minutes to go at Gresty Road, with initial fears that the Norwich-bound player may have dislocated his shoulder.

If so, such an injury could put his participation in the remainder of Town's campaign into some doubt, with Thompson heading to Carrow Road in the summer, but Cooper was not drawing any conclusions after the game.

He said: “He’s not been diagnosed yet because we’ve got to get him scanned and x-rayed first before we can diagnose him.

"I’m not going to make any assumptions yet, it could be a number of things. We’ll wait until he’s assessed.

"He’s conscious but still in a lot of pain. We’re just seeing whether he’s going to be comfortable enough to get him back to Swindon to get him x-rayed and scanned."

Crewe manager Steve Davis praised the quality of Swindon's team as his side earned a point.

Davis said: "Swindon played how we thought they would. They have a system of playing and if you try and press you get picked off.

"You have to be patient and set up to be hard to get through the middle and I think we did that well today.

"The opposition in midfield have talented players.

"I think (Massimo) Luongo is destined for better things and I think he will go in the summer. He is a tremendous talent.

"And they have Yaser Kasim who can't get in the team at the minute, but brought him on.

"They have an abundance of midfield players with terrific talent."
