KELVIN Young is determined to put the record straight when he meets Joe Walsh in Gloucester next month.

The Penhill pugilist faced Walsh at the Oasis Leisure Centre in February in a six-round contest which was adjudged a draw.

But the pair will go toe-to-toe again on Saturday, April 18, with a British Masters Bronze super-middleweight title up for grabs.

And the former IBO inter-continental champion is confident there will be a different outcome on April 18 at the GL1 Leisure Centre against the Croydon boxer, who has only two of his 20 fights.

“I thought that I had done enough to win the last fight,” said Young, who has 16 wins from 21 contests. “I have watched the DVD of the fight back and I’m the one doing the cleaner work.

“I know it was a close fight, I went into it having written my car off the night before on the way to weigh-in - not that I’m using that as an excuse.

“I was also with a new team and trying new things, but this time I’m sticking with Joe Wrona.

“The fight is also over eight rounds and that suits me better than a six-rounder.”

Before the rematch with Walsh was confirmed, Young and his manager Keith Mayo were in talks with Sam Couzens for a potential third clash.

“That was going to be a Masters gold and that would have been over 12 rounds, but unfortunately that didn’t come off,” Young said.

“Sam has now got a fight the night before I’m fighting so we are looking at probably having the third fight in the summer in Swindon.”

Young was due to box undefeated light-heavyweight Chris Hobbs in Portsmouth tomorrow night but that bout was postponed after the Southampton fighter dislocated his shoulder.

“The people were who putting on the show (Goodwins Promotions) have got another show at the York Hall in June and there is the possibility of me being on that show,” Young added.

Also fighting on Mayo’s Gloucester bill is unbeaten Swindon welterweight Ryan Martin, light-heavyweight prospect Tariq Quaddus and former Walcot and England amateur Danny Bharj.
