WILDCATS forward Jonas Hoog says that his side have to execute their game plan to a tee if they wish to emerge victorious from their two-legged play-off quarter-final showdown with the Peterborough Phantoms.

Swindon got things spot on when they hammered the Phantoms 6-2 at the Link Centre on the final weekend of the regular season seven days ago.

Swedish ace Hoog is confident that his team can be a success if they implement a similar approach to this weekend’s crunch clashes with Peterborough but is expecting the task of shutting down the Phantoms’ nimble offence to be much less straightforward this time around.

“I’m feeling really good – I think the whole team feels really good about it as well,” said Hoog.

“We beat them last Saturday but it’s going to be a different game this weekend because it’s play-offs.

“Both teams pretty much didn’t care before the play-offs. Now, it’s two games and everything can happen but if we play like we played Saturday, I’ve a hard time seeing them winning.

“They have a really strong goalie; weaker D but they have pretty fast forwards. On Saturday, I thought we killed their speed in the neutral door and that was our success in the game.

“We killed their speed and that’s what they have – they have really strong skaters and when they come in our zone with speed, it’s hard to defend.

“When they come in our zone, we never have 3 v 2. We always have 3 v 3 or 2 v 2, so we have even numbers.

“We try to play our way against them. It fits us better to play against them. Saturday was one of the games where we really cared how we played, I think, and we played really well.”
