IT HAS been a fantastic couple of weeks for Swindon Town fans, with our boys deservedly reaching Wembley after two scintillating ties against Sheffield United.

The play-off semi-finals proved once again that Town fans can produce a fantastic atmosphere, and anyone present will have been rewarded with a memory that will last a lifetime.

The injury time winner in Sheffield, and the goal-fest at the County Ground, will certainly go down as “I was there...” moments in Swindon Town history.

Both ties were backed up by Town fan Jay Collett’s efforts. Jay has pro-actively set out to improve the atmosphere at games, and supported by community donations, he has certainly made an impact - with streamers and banners lifting the mood.

We have been in touch with Jay from the start and throughout his campaign, and next season we will be doing what we can to help him take things to the next level - “Let’s get the County Ground rocking” on a regular basis!

Ticket sales have been slower than expected, which is surprising considering that we have only had the opportunity to see our football team at Wembley a handful of times in our history. It’s a similar story for our opponents Preston, and one can only assume that ticket pricing, train cancellations, Sky TV and the late kick-off time have contributed to people staying at home, all of which are out of control of the clubs.

The train situation means that we rely on the roads, so it’s a good time to recognise the sterling work that Swindon Town Supporters’ Club do regarding away travel. Their ‘SAS Travel’ service runs throughout the season and is a great option not just for Wembley but for all away games. We would like to recognise the fantastic contribution by Sally Anne Carter and Marc Walters, who put in many hours of voluntary effort.

The big pitch at Wembley suits our style, and we have every chance of winning the game and celebrating a return to the Championship for the first time in 15 years, so if you’re coming along, be sure to play your part.

Come on you Reds! Let’s make some noise and be sure that we top off a fantastic season in the style it deserves.
