AARON Lee’s Purton side face a key match in their season this weekend as they host Marlborough buoyed by a win over Westbury last weekend.

Purton completed a comfortable 63-run win over Westbury and face Winsley in a week’s time as they face a telling period in their league campaign.

Both Purton and Marlborough have identical records having both won two of their opening three encounters, with only ahead of Lee’s side by two points courtesy of superior bowling bonus points.

The skipper said that last weekend’s win has lifted the team’s confidence but knows there is still areas for improvement ahead of the weekend.

“It was a run of three fixtures, including next week against Marlborough which are pretty key to our season.

“Winsley, Marlborough and Westbury are all going to be there amongst it at the top of the table come the end of the season I am sure.

“To beat Westbury is great, especially going into Marlborough, because I think they have started two and one as well.

“We want to keep the side as settled as we can but unavailability’s are going to hamper that.

“Although we did really well, you could argue that one or two could have gone on, everyone sort of got themselves in and out.

“Bowling wise there are still areas to improve.

“Although we are really happy with how we did, there are still little bits and pieces we can improve on.

“The key is just to keep the intensity there and keep everyone hitting balls and bowling balls and just keep in that groove and try and not to over complicate things.”
