SWINDON Town have announced the capture of former Arsenal defender Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, as midfielder Anton Rodgers also secures a two-year contract extension at the County Ground.

Swindon have today confirmed the signing of 19-year-old former Arsenal youth product Ormonde-Ottewill, which was revealed by the Adver last month.

The England Under 19 player visited training at the County Ground before Town’s play-off final defeat at Wembley before committing his future to the club.

The attacking left full-back is the first Town signing of the summer and he was convinced to move to Wiltshire after speaking to Town manager Mark Cooper and chairman Lee Power about how he would fit into the side.

“I’m looking forward to my first taste of men’s competitive football, that’s what I wanted to do this season,” Ormonde-Ottewill told the Adver last month.

“I’m a bit past the Under 21s phase, so going into men’s first team football is going to be a big step up and I’m ready to take on the challenge.

“Swindon have got a good record with young players and they still have a young team. I’m looking forward to adapting to that really.

“I heard there was a bit of interest from Swindon and I wasn’t getting another contract at Arsenal. I like the way Swindon play and I went down to the stadium, met the manager and chairman and they were happy to go ahead with the deal.”

Meanwhile 22-year-old Rodgers has put pen to paper on a new deal which will see him remain at Swindon until the end of the 2016/17 season.

The former Chelsea trainee, who signed with Town last summer, made 13 appearances last term and found the net on two occasions.
