SWINDON batsman Liam Tucker has said they need to concentrate on securing their third tier status after another disappointing day in the office against Biddestone.

The County Ground side have one game remaining of the season, with Saturday’s 90-run defeat leaving them a place and 21 points above Tewkesbury in the drop zone.

With a trip to Frenchay next weekend Tucker says that his side must just concentrate on getting a win.

“It was another reasonably bad day at the office,” he said. “It is a few weeks on the bounce that we have lost now.

“With all the restructuring coming in, it is all very complicated and there are lots of results all around the county that affect it.

“We just have to go out last game of the season and try to put ourselves in the best position possible for if things do go our way in other leagues.

“We’ve got to go to Frenchay and apply ourselves and do our side of the job.”

The visitors won the toss and, despite the loss of opening batsman James Bartlett for just five runs, were soon on the front foot.

Chris Baker (75) and Dominic Hendricks (57) fostered a partnership of 110 to put Biddestone in the driving seat, before Hendricks was caught by Jonathan Sore.

That brought in Dwaine Perry who scored 46 of 44 balls, before Swindon began to fight back.

When Michael Wilson bowled Bartlett the visitors were on 186-3 and looked like posting a big target.

However Harry Beazer (16*) was the only one of the remaining seven batsmen to hit double figures as they fell for 244, with five balls remaining.

In reply Swindon were always in trouble as they failed to make an impact with the bat.

Tom Codling (25*), coming in at number nine, top scored for the hosts as he and Marc Williamson were the only men to make it into the 20s as they were all out for 154 off just 32 overs.

“We were looking down the barrel early on, but I think we came back really well to restrict them to 244,” added Tucker.

“I thought we were in with a shout halfway through, but the batting let us down quite dramatically.

“We just had to apply ourselves and make sure we got in as batsman and then fill our boots once we were in.

“Unfortunately none of the top order, myself included, could do that.”
