PURTON boss Justin Miller is keen to put together a run of wins to keep the pressure on the top two in the Hellenic Division One West table.

Having claimed a fortunate 1-0 win at home to Shrivenham last weekend, the Redhouse side now travel to seventh placed Hook Norton.

Purton, who have only lost three of their opening 13 games, sit third in the league but having played four more games than second-placed Cheltenham Saracens Miller knows his side need to turn draws into wins.

“We go away to Hook Norton and that is going to be another tough one,” said the Purton boss.

“We are going to go there with confidence after last Saturday’s result and hopefully we can go there and put a good showing on.

“We have only lost the three games and we have drawn too many.

“We have drawn a lot of games we should have won and we’ve conceded late goals.

“What we want to try and do is put a run of wins together and see where that takes us.”

Meanwhile, Shrivenham play host to Shortwood United Reserves at Barrington Park and manager Michael McNally is hoping for a lucky goal to end their run of four games without a win.

“Looking at the fixtures they are looking quite kind and they are all winnable games,” he said.

“In my eyes we haven’t played a team that have outplayed us and a lot of our defeats have been down to our own fault.

“In football it is that slight margin where, if you are not switched on or doing the right things in the right areas, you get punished.

“We seem to be doing that but it is a learning process for a lot of the young lads and if they stick with it then hopefully it will come good.

“I know it will happen when we score off someone’s knee or their backside and we’ll take that and maybe that will turn our fortunes.”

At the top of the division Fairford Town will be looking stretch their eight-game unbeaten run when they play host to local rivals New College Swindon.
