SWINDON Robins boss Alun Rossiter paid tribute to a comprehensive team display as his side claimed maximum points in their first away victory of the season tonight.

Rossiter’s Robins headed to Brandon to take on the Coventry Bees in only their sixth meeting of the 2016 season but an impressive all-round performance saw them take the spoils and claim a second successive triumph over their West Midlands rivals.

The Swindon team boss was also pleased that his tactical decisions paid off, with included replacing Stefan Nielsen with the in-from Rohan Tungate in heat nine and then opting not to send out Tungate in place of Josh Grajczonek in the penultimate race of the night.

“I’m very pleased. It was a good all-round performance from everybody,” said Rossiter, who later saw Nielsen clinch second behind Tungate in heat 12, which the Robins won 5-1.

“I thought the middle-order guys did really well. Charles Wright, Rohan Tungate and Justin Sedgmen; they got vital points all night.

“They (Coventry) kind of tried to plough the track up, like they normally do, and it didn’t work for them because a couple of their riders didn’t like it like that and it worked in our favour.

“(Heat 12) was great by Stefan. I don’t normally like to do that. I’d prefer to keep him in his race to keep his confidence up but I knew we had to get that bit of a cushion and it worked right.

“Rohan was going good and the same with Josh; it was a bit touch and go in heat 14 whether I left Josh or put Rohan in but Josh was convinced he’d got things sorted and he got a second, which was important.

“The Somerset boys (Grajczonek, Tungate and Wright) have been riding quite recently and you could see that in their sharpness; they looked very good tonight and I was pleased for Sedgy (Justin Sedgmen) because he hasn’t done much since the last home meeting (on April 21), in which he had a very good meeting.

“Jason (Doyle) was Jason – just a little bit unfortunate and got caught out a couple of times but you’re still happy with 11 points from your number one and all in all, I’m just happy with the whole team performance.”
