ON MONDAY, we picked up our first away win of the season up at Coventry Bees and it was a really good performance from the boys.

We all seemed to click at the right time and we got going straight away, and came out with a four-point win by the end.

It is always a bit more difficult riding away from home because you will always be the underdogs as you don’t know the track as well, but your mindset doesn’t really change much.

You still want to go out there and perform as well as you can and get the win, so you just have to go out there and race like you would if it was a track you’re really familiar with.

We’d had a few days off before that Coventry meeting as we didn’t have a home meeting the week before, so it was really encouraging that we were able to blow the cobwebs out straight away.

Ideally, you’d have a home meeting before to get yourself going again and really up to speed before having an away meeting, but we didn’t have that and were still able to get the job done.

I don’t think we could have done any better. We wanted to go there and win but to go there and get a four-point win is a little bit of a bonus.

All the boys seem to have got settled now, so we are in a good place at the moment.

It has been a pretty slow start to the year and the rain-offs haven’t helped and we know that we still need to improve, but we’re definitely moving in the right direction.

I feel like I’ve been riding quite well in the last few meetings and I’ve picked up some good points for the team but I still haven’t rode enough yet.

Getting the right results for the team always makes you feel better about things but I know I still need to improve a bit more.

We are back at the Abbey tonight and we’re looking forward to that but it will be a tough meeting against a good Lakeside team.

They are near the top of the table but they have had a few more meetings than everyone else, so they are a bit ahead.

I think they have only had one rain-off – which was in our away meeting there – so once everyone catches up a bit, it will be interesting to see where we all stand.
