NATIONWIDE House ran out seven-wicket winners over table-topping Box at Pipers Way on Saturday.

The hosts won the toss and sent Box into bat and wasted little time getting stuck into their batsmen and had them on the ropes at 8-2.

The league leaders rallied slightly with a gutsy unbeaten 59 from Richard Foley, however, Chris Trewhella picked up 4-19 from his nine overs as Nationwide restricted their visitors to 112-9 from their 45 overs.

While Box’s innings was all about hanging around, Nationwide wrapped up victory in 28.5 overs thanks to Jon Clarke’s 40-ball 42 and Aaron Stevens 27 not out off 17 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes.

With Box crumbling, Royal Wootton Bassett were unable to regain top spot as they too suffered a seven-wicket loss.

Bassett’s hosts Urchfont skittled their visitors out for 106 in 29.1 overs thanks to Morlon Simon’s 5-36, while Turner chipped in with figures of 4-23.

Turner then fired an unbeaten 52 as Urchfont romped home in 28.4 overs to close the gap on second-placed Bassett to 10 points.

Division Two

Biddestone 2nd defeated table-toppers Winsley, thanks to a fine century from opener Tim Knight.

Knight hit 102 in Biddestone’s total of 226-7, with support from Aled Evans (34) and Josh Boulton (32), while Winsley’s Josh Lewis picked up 4-43 from six overs.

In reply, Biddestone shared the wickets around as they bowled the visitors out for 137 despite 55 from Lewis.

Division Three Swindon A closed the gap on leaders Bath Hospital to 22 points as they picked up an eight-wicket win at Potterne 3rd.

Kudzi Mlambo lead the charge with the ball as his 4-19 helped skittled their hosts out for 111.

Josh Weaver then hit an unbeaten 69 as Swindon stormed home in 21.1 overs to claim 23 points, while Bath Hospital took 20 points from their five-wicket win at Wroughton Wranglers.

Division Four

Chippenham 2nd maintained their lead at the top with an 85-run success at Spye Park.

The Hardenhuish Park side posted 237-7 from their 45 overs thanks in part to Jake Pettit’s 88 and Ollie Slade’s 48.

In reply, Paul Bates and Steve Merryweather shared six wickets between them, while Charlie Slade claimed 2-4 from his five overs as Spye were dismissed for 152.

Division 5

Biddestone 3rd secured a much needed win against league leaders Lambourn.

Batting first, Biddestone had Graham Horn (57) to thank as they made 194-8, with Jon Cleverly and Nathan Caddell both contributing 26.

Caddell (4-24) and Cleverly (3-19) then tore through the Lambourn batting to dismiss them for 97.

Combe Down picked up 20 points from their seven-wicket success over Wilcot at a soggy Glasshouse.

Having won the toss and asking the visitors to bat first, wickets and runs were hard to come by as Wilcot had reached 30-0 from the opening 15 overs.

Mark Windsor (44) and Ashley Elliot (46) helped accelerate the score to 100-2 from 30 overs before they closed on 159-7, with Kevin Dornan the pick of the Combe bowlers with 3-25.

The hosts required just 28.1 overs to chase down their target thanks to an unbeaten 53 from Andy Hulbert and Rajat Dhir’s 33 not out.

Division Six

Royal Wootton Bassett 3rd replaced their Burbage and Royal Easton counterparts at the top of the table by beating them by seven wickets.

Starting the day as league leaders, Burbage batted first and were restricted to 145-8 despite an unbeaten 71 from Graham Milne, while Kian Chivers was the pick of the Bassett bowlers with 4-27.

The visitors to the Glebe Field secured the win in the 33rd over thanks in part to James Smith’s 65 not out. Matthew Milne claimed two wickets, while the economical Neil Stevens took 1-11 from his nine overs.

Division Seven

Devizes 2nd took full advantage of Trowbridge 2nd’s shock five-wicket home defeat to lowly Malmesbury to climb to the summit with a 66-run success over their Purton counterparts.

James Dunford’s 57 helped the hosts to 194 all out despite Purton’s Patrick Doyle picking up 5-34, which included a hat-trick.

However, Dunford’s 3-31 was the picked of the Devizes bowling as Purton were dismissed for 128 despite Tayler Aitken striking 52.

Division Eight

Highworth climbed to the top of the division thanks to picking up more bonus points than previous leaders Warminster 3rd.

With the previous leaders claiming 18 points from their three-wicket win at Box 2nd, Highworth’s 61-run success over Lacock 2nd saw them take 22 points and move three points clear at the summit.

Highworth were restricted to 134-9 but then bowled out their visitors for 77 with the final ball of the innings.

Division Nine

Chippenham 4th maintain their place at the summit with a 71-run win over Bathford 2nd.

An unbeaten 38 from Matt Billett helped them to 159-8, before Tony Sullivan’s 5-37 saw Bathford skittled in the 23rd over for 88.
