Sports reporter Matt Davies gives his verdict on Swindon’s players following their 1-0 win over Port Vale.

Lawrence Vigouroux- 6

Didn’t really have a great deal to do, but when called upon he was reliable - he also took the pressure off of his defenders by claiming a few crosses.

Nathan Thompson-6

Chipped in with a few crucial interceptions and blocks when Swindon needed him most, a solid performance from the skipper.

Jamie Sendles-White -6

Despite a few moments where he was caught with the ball, he alongside Jones and Thompson managed to keep Vale at bay.

Lloyd Jones- 7

Town’s stand-out defender, very cool on the ball and extremely strong in the air, looks to be a great addition.

Brad Barry- 7

Took his one chance well to put the home side ahead despite a nervy first half performance, grew in confidence after his goal.

James Brophy- 6

This was a game of two halves for many of Swindon’s players, he started brightly but faded in the second half which was why he was substituted.

Yaser Kasim- 6

The Iraq international was again the engine in midfield, Swindon will hope to keep hold of their star midfielder.

Michael Doughty – 7*

A great performance from the QPR loanee who provided an assist for Brad Barry, in addition to this he was a constant outlet going forward.

Anton Rodgers- 5

Struggled to assert himself during this one, Grant noticeably had an advantage over him as they battled throughout the game.

Luke Norris- 6

Another one who worked tirelessly for the team, won a lot of his headers and brought the ball down on several occasions but not many chances for him.

Nathan Delfouneso – 5

Showed early signs of his talent but faded dramatically in the second half which may be down to him not being fully up to speed.

Substitutions:

Thomas (on for Rodgers 65’) – 6

Due to his late arrival it is hard to judge Thomas on his outing, but he did look assured and comfortable with the ball in midfield.

Furlong (on for Brophy 70’) - 6

He has hit the ground running since his arrival, dealt with what was asked of him and got forward well too.

Stewart (on for Delfouneso 75’) - 6

Again it is hard to judge Stewart after being given such little time to make an impact, but was busy when on the field.
