OLD Town United’s disastrous start to their Premier Division season continued after their game was abandoned in injury time.

Chris Wood’s side were winning 5-2 against Swindon AFC before the referee brought the game to a close after receiving abuse from an Old Town player after he was sent off.

“The player took a throw, the ref blew up for a foul throw and the player reacted badly, he asked the referee why it was a bad throw,” said Old Town boss Wood.

“After he booked him, he carried on asking why it was a foul throw, then he just lost control and got a bit abusive to the referee and then he abandoned it there and then.”

Prior, to the abandonment, goals from Jermaine Spellman, Godfrey Chlanga and Lee Haywood had put them on track for their first win of the season.

Elsewhere in the division, Michael Cox netted a hat-trick as the Swindon Spitfires regained top spot with an 8-1 win over Village Inn. Sam Long and Phil Lagace got two apiece while Joshua Okuha was also on target for the the table-toppers.

FC Dorcan moved to sixth after goals from Ali Drew and Jake Kitchin earned them their first win of the season in a 2-1 victory at Sportz Central.

Bassett Bulldogs were 6-3 winners over Ramsbury with Jason Hudson netting four. Riccardo Serratore claimed the other two for Bulldogs. In Division One, Stratton Juniors and Sport 4 Pinehurst maintained their 100 per cent starts to the season with home wins.

Leaders Stratton Juniors won the top of the table clash with Lower Stratton 2-1.

Ryan Major and Joshua Stanley’s goals were enough to cancel out Jamie Saunders’ effort for the visitors.

Sport 4 Pinehurst had a more convincing result as they claimed a 5-2 success over Marlborough Reserves, who saw Roger Hill and Michael Robinson on target.

Haydon Wick couldn’t make the most of home advantage as they were beaten 4-2 by Wroughton Reserves.

Nick Entwistle, Jordan Lea both notched for the away side, with Daryll Chambers getting a double. Chiseldon got an early lead in their match with Moredon but that soon turned sour as the visitors hit back with a vengeance.

Moredon led 3-1 at the break before sealing a 6-2 victory. New side Lyneham got off to a winning start over Core Construction in a 4-2 success.

Adam Crawford, Daniel Ryott, Matthew Kennedy and John Denellweek all chipped in with goals for the victors.
