SWINDON Shock player-coach David Colclough is looking forward to renewing an old rivalry this weekend when his side welcome Bristol Storm to New College.

Following their two defeats on the spin at the beginning of last month, Shock returned to winning ways with a solid 74-59 victory over Reading Rockets 2nd last time out.

“They (Bristol Storm) are a familiar team, we had a couple of their players come and play for us last season because they disbanded,” said Colclough. “So they’ll be familiar faces and we’ve had a rivalry in the local league and now we have it again in the national league, so it will be fun.

“They are a bit slow but they’re a good shooting team and they have a point guard who is really good at passing.

“It’s one of those things we need to keep an eye out for, but because of the familiarity, the guys know what they have to do.

“Barring there aren’t any new players who are showing up, I think we should be okay but it will be interesting, that is for certain.”

The National League Division Four South side have enjoyed a weekend off from the regular season and Colclough is eager to get back on the court.

“It’s been nice to get rested but the other part of that is, we have four home games coming up so everyone is turning up and everyone is expecting to play,” he said. “I need to toggle between the people who have been committed and the people who only want to play in the home games.

“I welcome everyone being there but I just wish there was more consistency. I don’t think it matters if it is local league or national league, it’s a trend.”

Shock have no injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s clash.
