LAWRENCE Vigouroux thought that Swindon Town were rewarded for the ambition at the Macron Stadium.

Away to a team with one of the strongest home records in League One, Town could have been forgiven for shutting up shop against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday but Swindon fielded four new signings, two of which made up part of an ostensibly attack-minded midfield.

The men from the County Ground still had to stand firm at times against the Trotters but they also carried enough of a threat to snaffle all three points, handing Swindon keeper Vigouroux and his team-mates plenty of reason for cheer.

“It’s a massive win,” said the Town custodian. “This is their second loss at home all season, so it was a really tough game but I think, in the end, once we scored the equaliser, there was only one winner.

“I don’t think we can go into games hoping we can just sit back because there are some good teams in this league that can attack you.

“We can’t just defend for 90 minutes and expect to get something – I think we’ve got to throw caution to the wind sometimes and this time, it came off.

“Me and the boys are really happy with that and we’ll go again next Saturday against Peterborough.

“To go 1-0 down against a team that’s near the top of the league and come away with three points is something special, and it’s a feeling that we all want to have again.

“We haven’t come back from behind per se but we’ve have shown that we can do it in some performances like MK Dons (a 3-2 loss on December 30).”

Ben Gladwin and Yaser Kasim may have got the decisive goals and a host of men in red may have performed excellently on the day but Vigouroux reserved some special praise for the players operating directly in front of him.

Lloyd Jones and Raphael Branco had their hands full dealing with Bolton’s dangerous front-line and they were also flanked by debutant Fankaty Dabo at left-back and Conor Thomas – a natural midfielder – at right-back.

Vigouroux said: “Lloyd was brilliant, Rapha was excellent, Fanky, on his debut, was sensational and then Conor; he didn’t look out of place.”
