CHESTERFIELD have been linked to club legend Jack Lester as the Spireites begin their search for Gary Caldwell’s replacement.

The 41-year-old, who made almost 200 appearances for the club, scoring 83 goals in the process, is currently in charge of Nottingham Forest’s U18 side.

PORT VALE are also on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Michael Brown over the weekend and former boss Micky Adams has already ruled himself out of contention.

The Staffordshire side have also been linked with Justin Edinburgh, Gareth Ainsworth and Nigel Adkins.

LUTON Town midfielder Alan McCormack picked up a groin injury at the weekend.

The 33-year-old, who had played three games in a week, was forced to have an early exit in their clash with Wycombe Wanderers in the 40th minute.

The midfielder had been in good form since his arrival from Brentford in the summer and had been named man of the match in the Hatters’ last two outings.

CREWE Alexandra are set to be handed an injury boost as on-loan Everton youngster Conor Grant looks to have recovered from concussion.

The 22-year-old played 45 minutes in the club’s U23s fixture over the weekend and is eyeing a return to first team action at home to Carlisle United on Saturday.

CARLISLE United manager Keith Curle is also hoping to resurrect a deal for former Queens Park Rangers defender Clint Hill.

After failing to agree a return to Loftus Road, the 38-year-old has been without a club since leaving Rangers in the summer.

While Curle says he intends to get in touch with the former Premier League man, who had been training with Curle’s troops, the Carlisle manager says a deal must suit both parties.

“He was close to getting a deal at QPR but the deal didn’t suit both parties,” he said.

“I’ve known Clint a long time and know what he’s about. If we’re able to do something, if it suits both parties, we’re still in there.”

CRAWLEY Town have sealed the future of Josh Yorwerth after the Welshman put pen to paper on a three-year-deal.

The defender’s previous deal was due to run out at the end of the season, but prolonged his stay following some impressive displays for Harry Kewell’s team.
