HIGHWORTH Town climbed to the top of the Hellenic Premier Division table after extending their perfect start to a ninth successive win this evening.
Jeff Roberts’ side roared to a stunning 6-1 win away at Longlevens to climb above Flackwell Heath and move two points clear at the summit.
The two teams were level after 20 minutes at Sawmills End after Aysa Corrick’s opener for the Worthians was cancelled out by the home side.
However, once Chris Taylor restored Highworth’s lead, it was one-way traffic and Kieron Gleed made it 3-1 at the break.
There was no let-up in the second half and Ryan Stanners’ strike, a second from Corrick and one from Ryan O’Hara complete the rout.
Elsewhere, Fairford Town are now without a win from their first 10 games as a Premier Division side after going down 7-2 at home to Brimscombe and Thrupp.
Lee Smith and Liam Gale got the goals for Fairford, who remain third from bottom on three points.
