SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb admits the opening six weeks of the season could not have worked out better for his side as they look to extend their unbeaten start to a ninth game on Saturday.

Marine host Didcot Town aiming to add to their 11-point haul from five fixtures in the Southern League West so far in 2017-18, with the South Marston side only one of three unbeaten teams left in the division.

Webb’s troops have also enjoyed plenty of cheer in the FA Cup, winning their third match in the competition last weekend away at higher-league Gosport Borough in the second qualifying round.

The Supermarine boss says the Webbswood Stadium is a happy place to be at present and sees no reason why that should not still be the case come the final whistle against Didcot tomorrow.

“It’s pleasing where we are at and I know there is a lot more to come,” said Webb.

“We want to keep winning. We have Didcot this weekend and then we have got Salisbury away on Tuesday night, which will be a tough game, and then it’s the FA Cup again.

“It is all great at the moment, everyone is happy and the players are in good heart. It is all about winning games and all the hard work the players have put in off the pitch is coming to fruition.

“It is all going in the right direction. Everything off the pitch and on the pitch is moving forward and that’s exactly where we want to see our club going.”

Positivity is flowing through the Marine squad at present, with all of the players in tip-top form and no more was that evident than last weekend’s win at Gosport where a triple substitution when the game was evenly poised at 1-1 allowed Webb’s troops to go on and snatch the win.

“The confidence in the group is really high and it’s such a strong group of players. They are all important, every single one of them,” said Webb.

“You very rarely make three substitutions at the same time but that’s what I felt we needed last Saturday and it worked and that’s only because of the quality we have got in the squad.

“They are all good players and they showed that when they came onto the pitch last weekend.”

Supporters can attend Marine’s clash against Didcot for free this weekend, with club chairman Jez Webb shelving all matchday admission prices as part of his 50th birthday celebrations.

Meanwhile Marine’s league match at Shortwood United as been moved to Tuesday, November 7 (7.45pm) due to Marine’s involvement in the FA Cup next Saturday.

The trip to Evesham scheduled for Friday. December 8 will now be played on Sunday, December 10 (3pm).
