WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: NALGO Chalke up another victory

SWINDON NALGO set up a Fountain Trophies Junior Cup third round tie with Byrons Wanderers after beating visitors Chalke Valley 2-0 on Saturday, writes NED PAYNE.

First half goals from Scott Edenborough and Dan Hall saw NALGO safely through as they gained revenge for a recent defeat to the same side.

NALGO boss Steve Wickens, who was delighted by his side’s progress in the cup competiton, said: “We played them in the Wilts Cup about a month ago and they beat us 6-3, but that day I was playing boys and not men.

“I think they came here with the idea they were going to steamroller us, but I had virtually a full strength side out this time and they did their job.”

In Wiltshire League Division One action last Saturday, Minety romped 5-0 past AFC NPower, while Swindon Irons beat Greenmeadow 3-0 and Byrons Wanderers drew 2-2 with Intel.

This weekend’s fixtures see SKS Blyskawica host Nalgo, Minety visit Intel and Swindon Irons journey to Pewsey Vale Reserves.

Elsewhere, Greenmeadow take on Chalke Valley and Malmesbury Vics play Byrons Wanderers.

In the Premier Division, New College continued to the set the pace on Saturday as they overcame Wroughton 2-0.

KC’s thumped Trowbridge Town 4-1 courtesy of a hat-trick from Kenny Hawkins and a single from Dave Slattery.

Meanwhile, Purton drew 0-0 with Marlborough Town and Westside lost 2-1 to Corsham Town.

In the Corsham Print Senior Cup third round, defender Allan Clarke starred as Westbury United beat FC Chippenham Youth 3-1.

This weekend, New College will be looking for another win as they clash with Bradford Town, while KC’s make the trip to Corsham Town.

Purton meet Trowbridge Town while Westside are at Devizes Town. Wroughton play Pewsey Vale in the Corsham Print Senior Cup semi-final.

Jamie Ashby and Liam Preedy netted as Moredon Cheney saw off KMLC FC in Division Two on Saturday.

Pembroke were 3-1 winners at Chiseldon as Mark Bennett bagged a brace and Rob Curtis added a single.

Marlborough Town Reserves beat Ramsbury 2-1 but the meeting between Wroughton Reserves and Lower Stratton was postponed.

In league action this weekend, leaders Moredon Cheney visit Marlborough Town Reserves, while second-placed Pembroke are at FC Chippenham Youth Reserves.

Lower Stratton welcome Chiseldon in a mid-table clash while Wilton Town meet KMLC.

In the final game in the division, Wroughton Reserves play Ramsbury.
