TREATING riders as individuals will be the key to success for Swindon Robins in 2010, according to team manager Ronnie Russell.

The former Lakeside boss, who has been installed as co-promoter alongside Gary Patchett at the Abbey Stadium. has vowed to give each of his speedsters the attention they deserve, in order to maximise their performance.

“I see the seven riders in the team as seven individual characters,” explained Russell, pictured left.

“They all require a slightly different way to get the best out of them.

“I don’t go for the ‘on block’, there’s seven of them. They have all got little strengths and they have all got little weaknesses.”

And Russell also revealed a small element of how he plans to manage his riders during the Robins encounters this year.

“I believe a team talk in the changing rooms after the track walk goes far, far further than any get together in the pits during the meeting can do,” he said.

“During a meeting they are already focused on what they are going to do, so I’ve got to get into their brains before that.”

He added: “I will try and transfer my enthuasiasm into my riders for every single meeting.”
