DANNY Wilson has called on Town’s fans to fully get behind his squad in their quest for League One promotion.

Swindon currently lie sixth in the table following a run of just two defeats in 15 games, but have lost back-to-back games against Bristol Rovers and Milton Keynes Dons over the past week.

Striker Vincent Pericard, making his full debut for the club and only his ninth appearance, came in for noticeable criticism from the travelling support on Tuesday night at stadiummk, but Wilson believes the fans should build up players’ confidence, rather than knock it.

“It’s not all doom and gloom, certainly not from my point of view,” said the boss, pictured, about the two losses.

“It might be from some people’s though, as I heard one or two comments and moans on Tuesday night, which I couldn’t believe.

“Particularly when it was aimed at one or two of the players, which was disappointing.

“People were moaning at certain individuals because their favourites aren’t playing.

“There’s no favourites in my eyes in this team - they are all the same. This squad is a quality squad and we have now added a bit more to it with Stephen Darby.

“If they want to have a go at anybody then that’s not the right place for it, because we want everybody together.

“The only thing it does is knock our confidence. We want to knock the confidence of the opposition and not our own.”

Wilson brought Pericard and Sean Morrison into the starting line-up on Tuesday night at the expense of Gordon Greer and Charlie Austin.

And the manager explained there will be more changes between now and the end of the season, as they bid to end the campaign on a high.

“Everybody will be given a fair opportunity to prove themselves,” said Wilson.

“We’ve got such a tough run that we have to share the workload, and it will happen again, rest assured “If anyone thinks that we won’t make changes again then I am telling you now it will happen again.

“We (the management and coaching staff) will carry on believing in the players, and that’s all we can do.

“They’ve shown the quality they’ve got, they’ve shown consistency and results, and all they need now is that backing, support and belief to stay with them and not to start waning.

“Within the club we won’t give them any doubts because they are as good as any team in this league when they are playing well.

“There’s no reason for anybody to be critical of the players. They want exactly what everybody else wants - to get promotion and be playing in the Championship next season.”
