SWINDON TOWN: Wilson moves for West Ham striker

TOWN will today complete the signing of West Ham striker Frank Nouble on loan, the Swindon Advertiser can exclusively reveal.

Manager Danny Wilson admitted yesterday he was close to bringing a fresh face into his injury-hit squad, and England Under 19 international Nouble has been landed to try and fire Swindon to promotion.

Wilson was determined to keep his signing under wraps, explaining: “We’ve made a lot of headway (with transfers) and with a bit of luck will have somebody in by tomorrow (Friday).

“I don’t want to jump in too quickly and tell you exactly who it is and where he plays, I would rather have him in the door first, get him under a loan contract and then let you know.”

But the Advertiser understands Nouble travelled from London to Swindon yesterday afternoon to finalise the deal, will join his new teammates this morning for training, and go straight into the squad to face League One leaders Norwich tomorrow.

The highly-rated 18-year-old has made 10 appearance for West Ham this season following his summer switch from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Nouble also spent the whole of February on loan at West Bromwich Albion, where he featured three times for the Baggies.

With 22-goal top scorer Billy Paynter currently sidelined through a hamstring injury and Vincent Pericard fighting to be fit for tomorrow’s fixture, Nouble’s arrival will be a timely boost to Town’s striking options.

Rookie Charlie Austin has been forced to lead the line on his own against both Brighton and Southampton, albeit with goalscoring success, but Nouble is expected to add another striking option with power and pace among his main assets.

very pleasing, this boy knows where the back of the net is and should start tomorrow. Great work Danny and Andrew!

Evidence of that statement please fella?
I cannot find any goal scoring evidence onthis young guy, but have complete faith in our management team and if they feel he is worth a shot, then who am I to argue?

He can't sing like Michael Buble,
But he scores goals,
its Franky Nouble!

Well done Danny, can't wait to see how we play against Norwich tomorrow!

Great signing loads of pace and should find his feet quickly in our league as he has been loaned out to mainly Championship sides so lets hope we have another prolific goalscorer to play along side Charlie and it would be great if he can get off to a good start by hitting the back of the net tomorrow against Norwich.

If at first you don't succeed keep on trying.... Tope was disappointing, Hutchinson was rubbish, let's hope Nouble is the real deal. He's a big ol' unit, so providing he puts himself about and makes an effort, he should prove to be very useful!!

He is most likely a fringe player who lneeds games, could be a good move.Just as they got Simon Cox from Reading, no DW has I believe made a good move, just hope he can get another in before next Thursday. Also good news on SC was not as feared.
So Norwich as I said the other day they are the only team in the top6/7 who have not hit a bad patch yet.
With 2 vital wins the Town's confidence must be high, make no bones about it this game will be a firm test and get the feeling it will be our day.
GOOD LUCK TOWN

Will be surprised if he starts.Expect to see a 4-5-1 set up with Easton in for Ferry, and Lesc to replace Cuthbert.Possibly will come on later on if we need to chase the game.Maybe he's not here for his goalscoring exploits. As I understand it he's a big lad so possibly his contribution will be to use his size to unsettle defences, and be a provider for Charlie?

Great news and well done Danny. I just watched the youtube footage and my word he looks a monster of a man. Big, strong and pacey and the omens look good when you consider the goals he scored against the team in green and yellow in the video. Same tomorrow please.
Security word... full-fail. I sure hope not lol!!

Fantastic signing and as a West Ham fan second to the Town believe me this boy is big and mobile. He will give us something to aim at for sure so perfect target man. Goals are not great from the big fella but I feel as the target man he will be perfect and that's why Danny will have bought him in feeling that Charlie will benefit playing off the guy and not as the target man himself although saying that he has done fantastic last two games. This guy is In the sort of mould of big Carlton Cole who has got better as he has got older so I would say Nouble is raw talent and very similar to Cole and will certainly get better. Security word sounds promising "stay-hope" ??

I was watching the West Ham game against Aston Villa earlier this season, Nouble started the game and was very impressive. He's a huge guy, with a great turn of pace and brilliant strength. He's made 10 appearances for West Ham this season which says it all really, this is a real coup and I reckon he'll fit right into this league. Well done AF and DW.

I'll reserve judgement on this one but he looks like a good player for Charlie to work off....hopefully he and Charlie will click and we'll surprise Norwich...doubt he'll start though.
Still think we need cover at Centre-Half as we're down to last man standing at present.

Never heard of him, but by all accounts he sounds similar to Pericard which is good.

Playing 10 games in the prem must mean he has something. It's moves like this and Ritchie that really give us the extra depth we need for a promotion push.

Club career
Born in Lewisham, London, Nouble started with Chelsea in youth team football at under-12 level and was a regular in their youth team for the 2007–08 season. He made his Chelsea reserve team debut in November 2007.

Nouble (1st West Ham player on left) at the end of the debut game against Wolves. Other West Ham players are Junior Stanislas, Mark Noble, Jonathan Spector and Luis JimenezIn July 2009 he rejected the offer of a professional contract with Chelsea and on 21 July signed a five-year contract with West Ham United for an undisclosed fee. Nouble made his Premier League and West Ham debut in their 2–0 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 15 August 2009, coming on as a substitute for Carlton Cole. His first league start for West Ham came on 17 January 2010 in a 0–0 draw, away against Aston Villa.

He joined West Bromwich Albion on an initial one-month loan deal on 8 February 2010. He made his debut on 9 February 2010 at home against Scunthorpe United.

He then signed on a months loan for Swindon Town FC where he and new best mate Charlie Austin scored bags and bags of goals, helping the mighty Swindon pip dirty Leeds into second place in league 1. Brilliant!

LOL! If it's on Wikipedia! It has to come true!!!!

well done DW on getting the boy in.

WHAT IS NOT SO PLEASING IS THE ADVER!!
why if DW is trying to keep the signing under wraps to not to be scuppered last minute like has happened so many times before do you feel the need to hae to break the news before the club do?

Im sure if DW loses out on the signing he wont be too happy. And its no way for the local paper to be supporting the local team.

Good to see that yourself and mikek have left the poor old saints fans alone now on their local rag website. They deserved all the flak that we gave 'em, although the poor deluded fools still believe that we were lucky and that they are in a higher, more superior league to us. Oh!!! great signing as well.

What a coup for the club! I still can’t believe the way DW manages to pull the proverbial “Rabbit’s out of the hat!” Well done. Frank's got a good pedigree, so let’s just hope he can step up to the mark, from the off!! We can’t afford the let our form slip at this late stage of the season & the run that we've got!!! Good luck for the weekend lads!!!! COYR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

umpcah, chippenham states that a match report calls him hardworking but a good misser.
Reminiscent then of former loanee Alex Revell, who certainly was a hardworker and a bit unlucky in front of goal.
However, I do think Frank Nouble will prove to be a good signing for Town.

Highworth red, Yes what fun that has been having to try to correct some complete morons who got rather carried away with the lip. Its very hard though trying to educate some people who then got very insulting. All good fun though and I did get carried away due to the insults being thrown at us. But great to have some other members from STFC helping the cause so great thanks to all the Swindon guys who gave them what for. Quite right though some of the saints fans are totally deluded. Some idiot commented that their reserves beat us 5-0 so I had to reply the other day.
