Rumble with Bumble for Walcot's Reynolds

The Senior ABA Western Counties heavyweight final plays host once again to Walcot’s Mark Reynolds, who meets Valentin Bumble from Combe Martin ABC this Friday in Devonport.

The 30-year-old reigning champion was in impressive form in the last round, as he confidently achieved a convincing knockout victory.

And Reynolds is confident he has what it takes to retain his crown ahead of the final.

“The boxer I meet on Friday has a similar record to myself, so it should be a good bout.” he said.

“I’ve trained hard all season for these championships so I know I am ready.”

Reynolds’ coach Harry Scott added: “Mark knows what he has to do on Friday.

“He is the reigning Western Counties champion and he has to box like a champion.

“He is fit and strong and everyone at Walcot wishes him well.”

Walcot boxing sensation Ryan Martin reaches for glory on Saturday in the final of the National Association of Children and Young People’s Championships at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.

The Greendown schoolboy hopes to add this NACYP title to the two schoolboy titles he won earlier in his career.

The big-hitting 16-year-old knocked out two opponents on his way to the final as the opposition have struggled to contain his power.

On Saturday he meets Rhys Williams of Newdigate ABC in a bout that promises to be his toughest this season.

Martin admits that while he is not familiar with his opponent, he feels in buoyant mood ahead of this weekend’s clash.

“I’m really looking forward to the final,” he said.

“The Reebok Stadium is as a top sports venue and I can’t wait to enter the ring on Saturday.

“I don’t know much about my opponent except that he’s got a pretty good record. But I’m fit and ready to do the business.”

Coach Harry Scott added: “Ryan is in good form but we take nothing for granted.

“He will be looking to emulate Jamie Cox, our only previous Walcot holder of this title.

“Everyone at our club wishes him the best of luck.”
