SWINDON Town's League Two fixture with Burton has been called off due to a frozen pitch.
The club invested in a heated dome yesterday to help defrost the pitch, but temperatures plummeted to below zero degrees last night.
The club held a pitch inspection at 10am to determine whether today's game could go ahead, and the decision was made to postpone the fixture.

How long is the queue at the box office?!

Seriously though. I was on hold for 95 minutes and lucky enough to get through. The issue I have is I have just paid almost £10 to a premium rate telephone number just to get them. Although I love this club, I don't like being ripped off by the club nor its telecommunication 'partners'.
My Wray, expect my letter next week.

People shouldn't have to be camping out and queueing at 5.30am to get tickets. It's the 21st Century FFS. Other clubs manage it so the hard core that go to every game get tickets and other ST holders put in an application. This could have been done months ago. Maybe this is worth writing to Wray about?

I was just adding my opinion to your version of history. I agree with you that Health & Safety regulations are overboard these days. It's just that I couldn't see your point in raising them, as it seems the game was called off because of a dangerous pitch - something that would have happened long before Health & Safety regulations were even thought of.

Well done to the club for being decisive and making an early inspection. Have to get underway by 10.30-11am latest from London, if the day in Wiltshire is also to include a couple of beers.
Think it was optimistic thinking that a tent would stave off sub-zero temperatures, ice and frost - hope we didn't spend too much money on that dome.
They could have just put this Forum under the pitch instead, given the amount of hot air on it!

Managed to get my ticket after standing for 5 hours. Find it incredible that that they decided to allow 'fans' to buy tickets over the phone when there were people standing outside in sub-zero temperatures!! If you wanted to go you should have had to make the effort to get down to the CG like the majority of people and tough it out. How fair is it that a number of people stood there since 8am and wont get a ticket whilst others can ring from their bed, with a cup of tea and a cooked breakfast and get a ticket!!

- the best results from the heated dome is to install it either before or at the time of the adverse weather. A heated dome simulates a polytunnels temparature in summer, thus keeps any cold ground out, and avoids flooding. So it would have worked, but essentially came in a day late.
.
Depending on how many of these domes bath has will be detriment to the grounds recovery in time for tuesday night.
- as for tents sheilding frost. Contact Terra Nova, they will tell you how.
.
Another option is pipelind radiation, a method of using a lower pressure fire hose covering said surface and which the hose is continually pumped with high temp water. It is imperative this technique is used upto an hour before the surface is needed.
