Kerrouche completes Oxford switch

MEHDI Kerrouche has signed for Oxford United on a one-month emergency loan deal from Swindon.

Kerrouche, 26, joins the U's in a deal which will see him remain at The Kassam Stadium until Saturday March 10.

The Algerian, who has scored eight goal for Town this season, is understood to be unable to play against Town under the terms of his loan agreement.

Meanwhile, the cold weather means this Saturday's game against Barnet is in doubt.

Temperatures are set to plummet to around -6 degrees from tomorrow and while covers are on at Underhill, they are only able to deal with temperatures of around -4 degrees.

A risk no doubt, but I'm sure a calculated one on the part of PdC. Will be interesting to see if he brings in a loan replacement....

Shame. Glad he can't play against us because I think he would be trying extra hard and he is a very good striker. It will certainly help our "excellent friends" at the Kassam to maintain their challenge so although pleased for Mehdi, not convinced it is a good move for our club. I'm sure he will do well but wish it was somewhere else - why doesn't Martin Ling want him??? Probably heard too much about him!

Agree - with his record of goals per game he should be in the squad.
No reports as to what has gone wrong.
How about an update on his fall from grace.

Aye it would be nice to know what he actually did, but Di Canio has refused to comment on it every time he is asked.

If he ever comes back from the pox he'll have to miss rest of the season with 3 months in quaratine.

Just had a look at the Pox's fixture list some massive games for them the next 4 weeks.

Hopefully this will lighten the wage bill for a bit, in terms of this being part of the Constable deal, I can't ever see PDC being interested again JC hesitated last time and the deal was pulled so dont ever see it happening in the future.

It was because he was taken off and Di Canio wanted to see him respond and train harder to show he was committed to the cause and his efforts showed his true colours. His attitude was poison and considering the Leon Clarke saga, it clearly demonstrates this is Di Canios' team and if the ego of the player is bigger than the team, you will not be welcome in Di Canios' team.

I have spoken with Mehdi a few times and he is actually a really nice guy. Like all players he just wants to play every game and his scoring record suggests he should. I do not think its the best move to the Pox as they are up there with us - if they were mid table then not so bad. would be good for him to return to us and help for the automatic promo place. Good luck Medhi. In PDC we trust.

Is that you Lovesey says...

I think you cant blame Medhi at all, he isnt even training with the squad which is a clear indication that he wont play for us again, he needs football and is better than this league, if he does well there I can see him getting offers at the end of the season.

Likewise Jim, I have spoken to Mehdi a couple of times, real nice guy.

If his move free's up some money for us to bring in a player we will use, and that players produces goals then I suppose in a round about way its worth it.

For Kerrouche to produce he will need service from the midfield, and with Wilder favouring 4-3-3 he may not get that. If he does and they take points off those around us, then great because if we keep winning as well we could be top before very long.

Would love Kerrouche to be playing and scoring for us, but as I have found out, you don't always get what you would like in this life. Sadly.

i have to say i'm really not too bothered about this one... obviously don't want to see him going away and scoring goals for oxford, but i don't rate him as highly as many posters on here seem to. wasn't a bad striker and had a good goal record, but I just feel that he was never going to score consistently throughout the season - not sure why but i just felt the goals were going to dry up with kerrouche... anyways, hopefully that is the case now!

Is anyone arranging coaches like last time in the play off final. That was very well executed and believed all the coaches were from Bristol and Bath. On the sublect of Medi he did himself no favours falling out with Paolo and going to the Pox could be good for him but can also be bad for us if they start winning. But freeing up wages is important so it has to be done. We just have to hope he helps the sc*m take points off our competitors I suppose and draws would be good.

PDC himself is not the most 'controlled' person when it comes to being a bit 'hot headed' and passionate during his playing career. Maybe he could just understand the desire and channel some of the 'over passionate' players emotions into their game instead of moving them on. I think Kerrouche is a big loss especially if the goes and helps the pox.

Sir Don Rogers would of been outed by Paolo imo,we all know how much he adored his training don't we,not saying that Mehdi deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the great man but i firmly believe he would of frustrated any task master type.Myself and others i know had him down for being our top scorer before his alleged disobedience and fall out with the Guvnor so i see no reason to think that he will not score plenty with regular football at this level.
I reckon he will do much to good a job for the infected ones,i would normally go on and wish him good luck at this stage but sorry i just ain't got it in me i'm afraid.

I don't think anyone doubts Kerrouche's passion including PDC. PDC has said in interview that his frustration with Kerrouche is that he ignores team orders. In the long term, it is the team who will suffer because if he has an off day with his unauthorised free-roll, the rest of the team suffer, ie. Bristol Rovers away. He had his chance to learn but wouldn't listen - his career to date has only short periods with many clubs - a warning to his attitude if ever there was one. If he would play how PDC asks, he could be so good.

I rated him, even backed him to be top scorer but he has to go and Oxford or not we will be getting promoted because Paolo is doing an amazing job. Shame England managers couldn't learn that the team needs to be better than the parts. No room for prima donnas or selfish players.

Personally I think Stuart Pearce should take the bull by the horns and drop Terry completely. Too slow anyway.

Back to back promotions coming. Watching the birth of a managerial legend.

Chaps, I'm not so sure about Constable. We all know how volatile PDC is and how much he wanted to sign JC. It's not as if he's had a real fall out with him. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he changed his mind.
.
I reckon Constable has had unfair stick over this. He had so many factors pulling him in either direction, I don't think it's at all surprising that he wanted more time to think about it. In some ways, I think he deserves credit for not jumping at the chance to be paid a lot more money. I bet in his quieter moments he's still not sure whether he made the right decision - and he might have felt just the same if he had joined us. With our Swindon hats on, we can see it as a very straightforward decision. I think it was lot more complicated than that for Constable.
.
Time for me to leave this alone again for a while. I'm getting boring and getting boll0ckings from the missus.

ideally he would go to oxford get back to full fitness, score a few goals without oxford making ground on us of course, and then come back in a better frame of mind to help us for the run in, as I think his all round play , goals including freekicks and penalties we could still use. Id rather have kerrouche on the bench than magera as things stand if he was fit.
is he really a smoker? i didnt think any pro footballer was allowed to smoke any longer.

He's not smoking any longer, but he's not smoking any shorter either.

I'm not drinking any more, but I'm not drinking any less either.

.
The only ones who can stop us getting promoted is us!
.
Win our game in hand and beat Crawley and we are top!
.
Kerrouche was not going to play so that doesn't change us one bit
.
You never know he may net against our rivals to do us a favour!
.
As for the training thing why do people always mention Don?
.
1 - we don't know how he would react to the training
.
2 - we have no one anywhere near that quality - so don't know how PdC would react to them (assuming not working as hard)
I mentioned Don, do you want to know why LR? i will tell you anyway = because i can, you have no say in what others post and you`ll do well to remember that, you ain't no editor/moderator or administrator. As for not knowing how he would of reacted to training,i will remind you he demonstrated his willingness (or lack of) for training throughout his career and then showed on match day what a natural football player was capable of.
ha ha Steve. My thoughts entirely when I read his post, and then whoosh! you say exactly what I was thinking.

He'll never get it though - if people don't agree with him he goes mad.

Next time I see The Don I'll ask him about training!

:o) In his world its only his own opinion that counts. Never wrong would be a suitable username and it`s a polite one.
