LAWRIE Sanchez has conceded Barnet cannot compete with the financial clout of Swindon as the Bees boss prepares his side to face Town for the fourth time this season tomorrow.
Barnet saw their hopes of a historic appearance at Wembley ended by Paolo Di Canio’s men on Tuesday as Alan Connell’s 17th-minute header sent the Robins through to the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Sanchez’s side have not had much luck against Swindon recently, losing twice and drawing one of the three games between the two sides this season.
But Sanchez believes there is no shame in losing to a club like Swindon, who the Northern Irishman are far better than a League Two level side.
"Swindon are a massive club,” he said. “I played for them when they were in the Premier League so how they have been allowed to end up in League Two I don’t know.
"But they are a Championship club who are playing below themselves at the moment.
“They have put together a good team, have a massive wage bill and have given Paolo money to spend.”
While the Robins have ended one route to Wembley for Barnet, Sanchez still holds hope that they can play at England’s national stadium this season - via the League Two play-offs.
Barnet are 17th in League Two, 11 points off eighth place, but their form has improved considerably recently with four successive wins in the league.
And while it will be a tall task for them to sneak into the play-offs, Sanchez feels nothing can be ruled out at this stage of the season.
“We have set the players a new target now that one door to Wembley has closed,” he added.
“We can get to Wembley via the play offs, it would take a monumental effort by the players to do that, but when I was at Wimbledon I enjoyed a 17 match unbeaten run to end of season, so it can be done.
“We have to pull up a lot of trees but will certainly give it a good go.”
Charlie Taylor is ruled out for the game after he was sent off against Swindon on Tuesday night.

Harsh to blame Fitton...without him, we would be playing in the Evo Stick Southern Premier or something similar, having folded as a professional club.

What about he period between 1994 an 2008 before AF and co even came on board
.
We had fallen into L2 once before and spent the entire period this side of the millennium in L1 or lower
.
How do you blame AF for that?
.
Were you moaning at AF when he brought a group together - wiped out over £10m of debt and kept us a float?
.
Were you moaning at AF when he first signed Wilson and we went to the PO Final?
.
Were you moaning when he agreed to fund moves for McNamee, Cox, Douglas, Austin, Ferry, Caddis, Ritchie or Flint?
.
Were you moaning when AF slashed ST prices to be one of the cheapest in the entire football league?
.
AF should get nothing but praise - don't forget he is still on the board of our parent company and if it wasn't for him Wray wouldn't be here - and therefore PdC!
