Di Canio handed two-match ban

Di Canio handed two-match ban Di Canio handed two-match ban

PAOLO Di Canio has been handed a two-match touchline ban by the FA.

The Town boss was sent to the stands during the 1-0 win over Macclesfield last month and has protested his innocence from the moment he was charged with improper conduct.

Di Canio appealed the decision but that has fallen on deaf ears, and he will have to watch tomorrow's game at Barnet - if it goes ahead - and next Tuesday's visit of Crawley from the stands.

Meanwhile, Barnet are expected to hold a pitch inspection today after temperatures dropped to below freezing overnight, putting tomorrow's game in doubt.

Will Evans also be banned from the touchline next Tuesday? Or has his punishment for being sent to the stands recently not been decided yet?

I said on here a few weeks ago that those B@$turds from the FA would ban DC and his appeal would be futile!! After all we are Swindon and we will never get any favours from those fools!! These are the fools who went above the England managers head and decided that Terry should not be England captain, sorry but I thought in this country you were innocent until proven guilty?? DC is a marked 'man' and without a doubt the refs are out to get him. Maybe we should adopt the Millwall song..."Everyone hates us but we don't care"....

So it against league rules now to wave your arms about on the touchline otherwise you get a ban.

Bunch of idiots at the FA but the normal thing from them punish the small clubs and lets the likes of Ferguson and Wenger do what they want as lets face it the top 6 clubs dictate everything that happens in this country on football.

That idiot of a ref we had for that game when Paolo got sent to the stands has a reputation for being controversial so he is probably happy today.

Absolute bunch of jokers at the FA.

i thought the last ban was fair enough - whilst I thought it was fantastic that paolo ran on to the pitch to celebrate, you can't really get away with entering the pitch... but this ban is absolutely pathetic. paolo did not swear, was not violent, and did nothing more than move his arms. i agreed with the fa decision to withdraw terry as captain (but not necessarily the way it was handled) which was the first fa decision i've agreed with for a long time... back to their normal ways now!

You and me both OTR, i have absolutely no faith in that organization whatsoever, watch out Paolo these fraggles will be at you again before the end of the season, two bit referee`s doing there bit to get recognized and to have the chance of telling there grandchildren what a terrible man Di Canio was and that he HAD to report/send him off ETC, they are for me a crook of shat.

And the next sending to the stands will be three matches or a stadium ban. Why are people surprised by this. The FA WILL NOT tolerate abuse to refs, even if it was not verbal. The sooner Di Canio learns this the better. His passion is great, but on Tuesday I could see him getting wound up for things that the ref called correctly. If he's going to get angry about things, they need to be the right things. He could also start buttering up the 4th official. Have a bit of a joke, get him onside.

This ban is just plain silly. The FA really do need to be seen to administer justice equitably.

That said I personally think for the first time in years Bernstein has showed excellent leadership with regard Terry. You can't have an England captain facing charges of racist abuse. This has nothing to do with him not being innocent until proven otherwise, more the circus that would obviously follow him that would be detrimental to the TEAM.

It shows a lot about Terry that he's so thick, thick skinned and selfish that he couldn't see it himself. But a man who parks his Bentley in a disabled parking space whilst he goes for lunch, shags his mates girlfriend, sells his hospitality at Wembley and Stamford Bridge to the highest bidder, is hardly likely to take any other view than the selfish one.

Terry is innocent until proven guilty, Bernstein got it spot on with him, but the FA have made a massive rick with Paolo.

Positively though Paolo has said he won't change and he'll get sent off every game if necessary and we will still win the league. Just like we are a thousand times better than the muppets up the road, spot on as ever.

I don't think I have ever seen it mentioned, but I've always assumed that PdC was sent off for dissent.

As has been said it wasn't for abusive language or leaving his technical area, but if a player acted the same way against a refereeing decision on the field of play, I would not be surprised if he was sent off.

Having said that, there is no doubt Ferguson, Dalglish, Wenger would NOT have suffered the same fate.

Sometimes ...(just sometimes!) I feel a little uneasy about PdC's assertion that he is a passionate man and should be respected for that... as though that excuses some of the things he does.

We all have our passions (how about those supporters who ran on the pitch on Tuesday night? They were displaying passion but were told it was not acceptable).

PdC can't always rely on saying that the things that HE is passionate about are the correct things, while not maintaining the same position to something that someone else is passionate about is wrong.

Didn't Leon Clarke believe passionately that he shouldn't do more running in training? (A controversial comparison I accept!)

He doesn't have the monopoly on passion.

Incidentally, security word is 'gone-away'.

I agree about the FA, always have, always will be brainless, biased idiots. Can I ask one simple question from and that is how is it allowable for Arsene Wenger to publically hurl a water bottle on the floor, which landed outside the 'technical area' and nothing is said. Sanchez was outside his 'technical area' on Tuesday, shouting to his players and, you've guessed it, nothing was said. You have to look long and hard at the pointless fourth official and the amount the FA pay these idiots to control a game. Can we not as a fans send a petition to the donkeys who make up the FA to oppose the interference of a fourth official and the incompetence of the ref (ie Mr Stroud). Last time we made a collective effort against an FA decision (old Wembley play-offs) some had their ticket prices refunded.

I must admit to thinking that it would be hilarious if the next England manager dropped Terry altogether! If Terry had an ounce of dignity and respect for his country, he would have long ago withdrawn himself from availability for England selection until his court case is over. He is an arrogant tosser and disgrace to the shirt.

My take on the FA is simply not printable here, but the level of hypocrisy is without bounds, its disgusting and smacks of favoured few getting away with it,i t appears, the bigger your team, the higher the clubs standing in the league and the larger amount of success allows you the right to get away with more, Hence Premier League managers get away with more than Championship managers who get away with more than League One managers, so PDC as a League Two manager gets away with nothing.
That said is it not time that the fat TW@T that is Steve Evans gets a life time ban. Warnock, Fergie, Wenger, Dalglish continue to get away with murder over what diCanio does yet go unpunished. Time for the new England manager who ever he is, to overhaul the thinking within the FA, as the FA has really becoming Effinn Abysmal, obviously following their world leader Septic Bladder.

Agreed Moonraker, I have been a Town fan for 47 years & love PDC to bits, but people have to take a balanced view & he must work within the rules. Keep up the passion but temper it just a little. A good idea but even that will have little effect. The overall decision making in football is so inconsistent in every aspect.
Eg 1 Paolo's punishments
Eg 2 Racism - Suarez and Terry cases (and don't forget Blatters hand shake comments)
Eg 3 Tackles - Glen Johnson, Kompany, Luiz, Cahill, now Huth, Suarez, and Konchesky
Eg 4 Goalline technology, Celtic game on Tuesday the latest one
Eg 5 Transfer 'deadlines' like the Benson loan situation v the Arshavin one.

Like it or not Paolo needs to look at things and control himself, we need him on the touchline not in the stands. He has adapted fantastically in many aspects since he started, like his understanding of the calibre of players needed and the balance of training needed, but his matchday emotions still need working on. He just has to control himself, 50-50 decisions will go against him every game, and we will miss him at pitch side v Crawley where Tweedledum and Tweedledee will be up to their wrist tapping, feet kicking, up in arms tactics and throwing their pies around at every adverse decision, and getting away with it no doubt...

I bet if we were all neutrals on the outside looking in, we would say that this is a fair punishment. But because we are Town fans, it's easty to see it through a different pair of glasses. As far as I know the FA do not publish their reasoning for these punishments (and I think they should) but this is PDC's 3rd offence in a short space of time and I would be surprised if that has not been taken into account. We don't know exactly what the ban is for. I think PDC shoving his face into the 4th official's, after he was sent off, probably did him no favours. There's no doubt in my mind that this in itself should result in a ban.
.
If we want PDC to continue behaving in this way, we just have to accept the consequences. Sooner or later a ban will affect a result, e.g. because he can't get instructions to the pitch quickly enough - like a couple of weeks ago when he didn't want Ritchie to take a penalty.
.
PDC is proving to be a very shrewd tactician and a good manager. I believe it's possible for him to be an even better manager by keeping his passion while toning down his approach to officials.
,
And SAPfan, to say you respect someone's views and then say they are a load of horlicks is quite a contradiction.
.
I did say last night that I was signing off from here for a while, but I felt I had to comment on this one. That's definitely it for a while. Might as well sign off with an unpopular post!

Hmm seems to me that maybe PDC should realise that he is being watched. Third time ban now he is definitely going to be picked on almost as a sport. He is doing wonders for STFC but as some others have said, he needs to temper that passion when dealing with officials or accept that they will come down harder on him than anyone else. As for the terry debacle, firstly I am not interested in him sleeping with anyone – what’s that got to do with football??? This is just grubby newspaper men looking for sleaze and then playing the moral high ground.
However if he did make racial comments to another player that is unacceptable BUT why is this taking so long to sort out? Either he did or he didn’t.. Capello should have kept his mouth shut, the FA should have kept their mouth shut, the verdict should have been reached quicker and then actions should have been taken collectively!

Given that the FA seem to be picking on PDC, they probably won't want him at Wembley in a high profile(ish) game with cameras on him. I noticed from the stand that PDC went outside his area a few times at the Barnet area final at Swindon and he does not seem to notice ,or does he?
It only needs a snotty nosed official to notice.
He does let his emotions get the better of him and will probably pay the price again In the future.

I see you have been very careful with your P's and Q's this time Wiz you never know who is watching or reading these post. Good post though very well summed up of just what a calamity the FA are. What a shame Spitting Image finished they could have had a field day with rubberising those clowns.
