PAOLO Di Canio admitted his side rode their luck a little as Swindon came from behind to beat Shrewsbury 2-1 at the County Ground tonight.
Matt Richards had given the visitors the lead late in the first half but Di Canio's inspired substitutions tipped the balance of play in Swindon's favour as Alan Connell climbed off the bench to score twice.
The game could have been very different, though, if the referee had awarded a penalty early in the second half when Terry Gornell appeared to be felled by Alan McCormack inside the area.
"We are lucky, absolutely," said Di Canio. "For the first 55 minutes Shrewsbury deserved to be in front.
"Maybe they should have had a penalty in the second half but we then went on to dominate the game.
"It's the first time in a while that we have had some luck and the win makes me very happy."
Swindon are now top of League Two after Southend and Cheltenham both failed to pick up wins.
"We have thought about this for seven months," reflected Di Canio.
"Now we must not lose our focus. If we play like we played for the last half an hour against Shrewsbury then we will win most games."

If we can get results from poor play and difficult matches - Hereford and Shrews - its the sign of champions elect. We've got six points when we could easily have ended up with just one from the two games.
Also lucky with the other results last night. I said yesterday that we would not be top at the end of play, cos I didn't think that both Cheltenham and Southend would slip up.
We've had our poor run at the start of the season - all the others are starting to falter - Shrews and Torquay excepted. Lets hope Creepies have a poor run and finish outside the play-offs. They've got Shrews, Torquay and Southend on the bounce after tonights game.
