SWINDON Town and Bayern Munich II have drawn their friendly match 1-1 at Andalo this evening.

Paul Benson handed Swindon the early advantage, rolling the ball past Maximilian Riedmuller from Matt Ritchie’s pass after three minutes.

Bayern levelled when Town failed to clear their lines and Alessandro Schopf was on hand to bury beyond Wes Foderingham, but the Robins almost edged in front once more when Andy Williams struck a post after being played in by Paul Benson.

In the second half, Foderingham produced two good saves to prevent Marius Duhnke from edging the German side ahead, while James Collins and Aden Flint were both within a whisker of claiming the bragging rights for Swindon.

Here are the key moments from today’s match:

Three mins: GOAL 1-0 (Benson) What a start from Town! Matt Ritchie nips in to steal the ball on the right flank and feeds Paul Benson, and the striker makes no mistake in slotting the ball beyond Maximilian Riedmuller.

14 mins: Dale Jennings latches onto a long ball from deep in the Bayern midfield and almost skips past Troy Archibald-Henville, priming himself for a pop at goal, but Town’s big centre-back does well to recover and makes the tackle.

18 mins: Top save by Wes Foderingham. The Swindon keeper gets down low to his right to palm the ball to safety and deny Bastian Fischer from very close range.

25 mins: GOAL 1-1 (Schopf) A cross from the right evades most of the Town defence, Ritchie can’t clear at the back post and, after Dale Jennings completely miscues his effort, the ball lands at the feet of Alessandro Schopf who fires home.

36 mins:The Robins go so close to taking the lead once again when Andy Williams is played through by Benson. The former Yeovil striker beats Riedmuller but the ball ricochets off the Bayern keeper’s right-hand post and Williams can’t quite toe-poke in the rebound.

41 mins: Williams turns nicely on the edge of the area but his low shot is easily scooped up by Riedmuller.

57 mins: Raffa De Vita does well to muscle his way through three challenges in midfield and lets fly from 20 yards, but his right-footed drive is well saved.

58 mins: A nice period of pressure for Swindon, this, and Luke Rooney’s cross is met by James Collins but the striker can’t direct his header goalwards.

61 mins: Rooney has a great chance at the back post when Oliver RIsser centres, but the wide man can only nod hopelessly over.

68 mins: Rooney has again been in impressive form down the left, and his whipped cross only narrowly avoids the diving head of Collins and the diving right foot of Aden Flint. Close.

73 mins: Marius Duhnke thinks he’s scored when he chests the ball down inside the Swindon area and pokes the ball towards the bottom corner. It seems for all the world that it’s in until Foderingham reaches down with one of his big paws and pushes the ball aside. Great save.

80 mins: Dunhke has another glorious chance to edge Bayern in front but, despite being allowed the freedom of Andalo to run at Foderingham, he still can’t get away a shot as the Town keeper claims at his feet.

82 mins: Collins lashes over the Bayern crossbar when well set on the edge of the penalty area.

89 mins: Simon Ferry volleys from the edge of the box after De Vita's cross is cleared, but his effort is turned over.

90 mins: Collins turns neatly in midfield and feeds De Vita, whose cross to the back post is met by Rooney's tame header.
