FULL TIME
Carlisle United 2 (Jake Jervis 14, 30) Swindon Town 2 (Adam Rooney 28, Paul Benson 32)
A crazy four minutes meant very little in the end as Swindon claimed a point in Cumbria.
Good in spells, the Robins could and perhaps should have won the match in the second period - as Gary Roberts' introduction had a huge bearing on the game.
It wasn't to be, but Town can be happy with a point and an end to their three-game losing streak.
An entertaining clash in the north west.
4:52pm
90 mins: James Collins' shot from the edge of the box is deflected and allows Mark Gillespie to make an easy save.
4:50pm
89 mins: Mark Gillespie pulls off a stunning save to deny Gary Roberts when the winger latches onto a looping cross at the back post.
4:48pm
87 mins: Matt Ritchie's low drive from 25 yards is comfortably saved by Mark Gillespie
4:41pm
Just less than 10 minutes to go at Carlisle, and it's a little bit tense out there.
4:36pm
74 mins: Darren Ward heads over from Jay McEveley's cross from the left.
4:35pm
CARLISLE SUBSTITUTION
David Symington for Jon-Paul McGovern, 74
4:31pm
SWINDON SUBSTITUTION
Giles Coke for Simon Ferry, 69
4:30pm
68 mins: Brilliant through-ball by Gary Roberts has James Collins bearing down on goal but Mark Gillespie gets down to knock ball into his legs
4:28pm
66 mins: Mark Beck should do better than head wide at the back post from Jon-Paul McGovern's free-kick.
4:20pm
SWINDON SUBSTITUTION
James Collins for Paul Benson, 59
4:20pm
CARLISLE DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION
Mark Beck & Danny Livesey for Danny Cadamarteri & Mike Edwards, 58
4:18pm
56 mins: Andy Williams has a glorious chance to put Swindon ahead when he gallops clear down the right but Mark Gillespie is out to make the save.
4:16pm
ATTENDANCE
Today's attendance at Brunton Park is 4,987. No word on how many of those are from Swindon.
4:14pm
SWINDON SUBSTITUTION
Gary Roberts for Adam Rooney, 52.
This is Roberts' Swindon debut.
4:09pm
48 mins: Simon Ferry volleys wildly over from Adam Rooney's lay-off.

HALF TIME
Carlisle United 2 (Jake Jervis 14, 30) Swindon Town 2 (Adam Rooney 29, Paul Benson 32)
Since we arrived after about 20 minutes into the game, it's been pretty non-stop.
Both sides look dangerous going forward, both teams look awkward defensively and both teams should have scored more than the two they have managed.
It's an entertaining game, however, and it's well poised ahead of the second half.
3:46pm
45 mins: Peter Murphy's header from a corner is pushed onto the bar by Foderingham.
3:45pm
YELLOW CARD UPDATE
Both Paul Benson and Darren Ward have gone into the book for Swindon in this first half.
3:44pm
42 mins: Matty Robson's free-kick deflects off the wall and Foderingham scampers to his left to palm the ball out for a corner.
3:37pm
ADVER CHIEF SPORTS WRITER SAM MORSHEAD: Well, that four minute period was certainly worth the eight-hour wait in the car on the way up!
Crazy spell, with both teams' defences looking wide open. Don't expect the scoring to finish here!
3:35pm
GOAL!
Carlisle 2 Swindon 2 (Paul Benson, 32)
A ridiculous four minutes at Brunton Park comes to a conclusion when Benson is gifted acres of space in the box and slots beneath Mark Gillespie.
Bonkers stuff in Cumbria.
3:34pm
GOAL!
Carlisle 2 (Jake Jervis 30) Swindon 1
Carlisle have an instant response and the Cumbrians go back ahead through the former Swindon loanee, who fires a cracking volley beyond Foderingham from 20 yards out.
A real fizzing effort that.
3:32pm
GOAL!
Carlisle 1 Swindon 1 (Adam Rooney, 29)
Rooney finds space about 20 yards from goal and lets fly with a long, drilled effort that sneak's into the botom left-hand corner.
3:29pm
27 mins: Jake Jervis' backheel volley from the edge of the area is saved by Wes Foderingham
3:26pm
Arrived at Brunton Park to find Town trailing by a goal to nil, with Jake Jervis opening the scoring for Carlisle.
3:05pm
Apologies to all hoping for match updates but the Adver car is still travelling down, or should I say up the M6.
As soon as we arrive at Carlisle, which is about 10 miles away, we will get up and running.
3:01pm
TOWN SUBS
Bedwell, Archibald-Henville, Collins, Roberts, Thompson, Bessone, Coke.
2:53pm
TOWN STARTING XI
Foderingham; Devera, McCormack, Ward, McEveley; Ritchie, Miller, Ferry, A. Rooney; Benson, Williams.
2:48pm
Apologies for the downtime on the site. We're still hurtling towards Brunton Park on the M6 and internet signal varies a little in the Lake District.

We will get underway at 3pm as originally intended. There's going to be some unhappy travelling fans...

2:05pm
Here's Paul Benson talking about the need for Swindon's players to dig deep in the midst of a poor run of form...
"We need to reach a level of consistency which is going to be enough to see us pick up points on a regular basis.
"We’ve had a good week of work and we’re going to go to Carlisle in a positive fashion looking to pick up three points.
"I’ve been at clubs where they’ve lost three games in a row but at Swindon no, I hadn’t even tasted home defeat so that’s new as well.
"It’s a bit different but I’ve got experience of being at clubs where things haven’t gone so rosily and that’s when you need your big players and your senior players and your experienced players to get together and drag yourselves out of it and start picking up points again.
"Sometimes results can change just like that, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re playing or whether your’re home or away.
"If you put enough work in and you’re pushing in the right direction the result will come."
1:59pm
Paolo Di Canio spoke in the week of the "winning habit" that he believes will see his team through their difficult patch.
Here's what he had to say...
“There is proof that 99 per cent of League One and League Two have this habit. One or two will go up will this habit.
“The only difference between there and Swindon is that this is the only place where we train Sunday and Wednesday, and harder and harder.
“We have proved that we won with this habit. There is a proof that there is a chance to win in a different manner. My concern is, do they believe - the new guys especially? I really think yes.
“It is important that they keep going even if we have one or two bad results because in one month’s time and two months’ time we will take advantage.
“We have more fitness, more discipline, more mechanism because we can only win by playing football.
“To do this we have to practice so change the habit and the mentality but not change completely the thinking - it’s different.
“I don’t have to convince anyone by words because there is fact. If they do this, we will be okay."
1:54pm
HISTORY BOOKS
The last time Swindon made the trek to Brunton Park, the Robins drew 0-0 with Carlisle.
A drab match should have been won by Charlie Austin , but the striker missed a sitter late on.
You can relive that day by reading the Advertiser's report of that match right here
1:49pm
No word of a delayed kick-off just yet, but hopefully those in charge are working behind the scenes to get the matter resolved.
1:32pm
Here's a few words from Town manager Paolo Di Canio , who talked the local press through his thoughts on his side's three successive defeats of late...
“It’s not about three defeats, what made me worried was the way the defeats came and with more time to think since Sunday I realised a few things.
“The defeats came in different ways, for different reasons. A mix of these situations can put us in trouble if we don’t work in the way we have to.
“Monday was a very important moment. I saw the fellas completely focused. For a bit they lost their determination or their belief in some way.
“Preston was after Stoke, Oxford I changed four players but we played much better than at Preston although we missed some details. Saturday was the first game I saw my team play, especially at home, with worry. More than worry, without belief."
1:30pm
You can read the full interview with Tommy Miller right here
Meanwhile, in traffic news, the Advermobile has reached Junction 34 of the M6.
However, everything is still moving at snail's pace.
An hour and a half to make it to Brunton Park. The race is on(obviously abiding by all traffic restrictions).
1:21pm
Tommy Miller told the Advertiser earlier this week how important it is for Swindon to emerge from their miserable recent run of form as soon as possible.
Defeat today would equal the Robins' worst run under Paolo Di Canio.
"We don’t want to fester and drag on," Miller said.
"We want to put things right now and we need to get back to winning ways if we want to be up there towards the right end of the table.
"We don’t want to slip towards the bottom and confidence gets a bit low."
1:19pm
TEAM NEWS
Nothing concrete in terms of today’s Swindon Town starting line-up as yet but the Robins will definitely be without three players through injury this afternoon.
Alan Navarro has been ruled out with a knee problem, Giles Coke has a groin strain and Gary Roberts continues his rehabilitation from a calf knock.
Troy Archibald-Henville has recovered from his knee injury and travelled with the squad to the north west.

So, as we plod slowly up to the diversion at Junction 34, I can only guess what's going on up in Cumbria at this moment in time.
However, several Town fans are starting to call for a delayed kick-off, with the backlog causing travel havoc on matchday.
@SamMorshead_SA Traffic Jam Sam any chance of kick off being delayed? We've seen similar at Orient already this season #STFC

Don't forget that for the first time today, Matchday Live will be supplemented by local non-league football scores and scorers as they happen. Whether you are interested in Supermarine versus Yate in the FA Trophy, or Purton against New College in the Hellenic League, look no further.
1:09pm
First thing’s first, I have to be honest – I’m nowhere near Brunton Park at the moment.
The M6 has been closed between Junction 34 and Junction 36 for several hours as police investigate an accident which occurred on the stretch of road overnight.
Most of the Swindon Town travelling party – press, photographers and fans – have fallen victim to long delays which stretch all the way back down the motorway to the Manchester area.
Thankfully, as Paolo Di Canio revealed on Thursday, the Town squad went up to Carlisle even earlier than usual yesterday, leaving Swindon in the morning. They should be fresh come kick-off.

Difficult to gauge the game when you are not there, but it seems we did ok on the whole, but the defence needs sorting, two easyish goals for them.
Would have loved to have seen Bostock involved. PdC has probably again learned more from this game than any training session. Tuesday should hopefully be better again.

Mind you PdC cannot paper over the crack in the defence that is the removed Caddis. That will not go away until we start to get back to clean sheets. Flint missing today and evidently not happy according to a poster earlier. Early days, best not to panic but! more hard work needed, and maybe an alternative plan as we were promised versions B,C,D this season. I'm happy with the hard earned point today, perhaps it is a step in the right direction, lets hope so.
I dare say Jervis is wearing a smile this evening, I think that hurts PdC more than anything else.

Whilst appreciating that post match reports maybe difficult to report on the road, Gary Rose managed to do it, don't see why Sam has a problem, his last tweet on here was around 5.00. Nothing from him since as to any sort of match report or what Paolo had to say.
For me very poor joiurnalism, too dependant on his I-pod I'm afraid, what's wrong with him making a good old fashion phone call and have a proper report on line by 6.00. He wouldn't have lasted long with the football Pink that had none of the technology he has at his disposal.

I think it's exciting. Don't you feel PDC's just working towards something really special? If those chances had been taken today and the defence not so unfortunate what a result it could have been. To judge from the post-match interview that's what he envisions and is working towards and won't be happy until he and the players achieve it. Let's hope it all matches up to his imagination over the season.
Messing with the team to much esp with the defence just so he can say that he was right AGAIN with the new signing..
Why was Flint dropped?.
Will he play for STFC AGAIN?
We never no with Paolo do we..
Is it Flints fault that we have lost are way?

Great paper in the days of journo's on the phone , and me watching the teleprinter on the Beeb. Great days. The bloke used to deliver to the shop in a Morris Minor Van, and a lad riding shotgun used to run in and out of the shop with the bundles of papers.

Old Town Robin,
I used to deliver the Football Pink on a Saturday. I used to have to do around 100 houses and the blokes used to be well happy to get their Pink. Big tips at Christmas. Great paper in the days of journo's on the phone , and me watching the teleprinter on the Beeb. Great days. The bloke used to deliver to the shop in a Morris Minor Van, and a lad riding shotgun used to run in and out of the shop with the bundles of papers.

Loved Paolo's post match quote - "I will fight for my players if they are brave but we have too many who are blurry at the moment. As others have said he wasn't happy but he was happier than last week he said.
Lets hope "Jan-Aage" Williams & Collins start hitting the onion bag soon because the question is where are the goals going to come from will soon be on everyone's lips. As much as I like Benno I don't think he'll be as prolific a scorer in this league as last year.
Looking forward to Pompey on Tuesday -not been to Fratton Park for awhile so hope the lads bring their shooting boots.

Or is it Rooneys fault or Caddis or even..

Well, without any post match summary from Sam or Paolo's post -match interview, I went on the Carlisle site for news. Almost all their posters agreed we should have won the game based on our second half performance and their goalkeeper got star ratings in keeping us out.

Good old days they were Grim. The world seemed to be a better place then, not so darned complicated. No PC, no health and safety, we all got on with it and seemed to enjoy ourselves more so.
Bazooka Joe's, Lucky bags, licorice by the mile, scrumpin', pram wheeled trolleys, out on yer bike till dark, derriere hanging out of yer trousers and not a care in the world, and 4d for a bag of chips and a shilling for a bottle of Tizzer, and the bigger the scab on the knee's the more street cred you had, add to that falling out of the occasional tree from time to time, but never, ever going home on time, always 5 minutes late. I thought that I'd invented stereo sound, both ears ringing when I got a clout of the old lady for being late in for tea, again !

On a different issue, did you all notice that Shrewsbury lost their first home game for eighteen months - and the scorer was Leon Clarke!
Still very early days yet and I have every confidence in Paolo's assertion that we shall be "alright" about a month or so from now.
Need six points from the next two games, though!!

We could well be concerned why Bostock never left the bench last week and why he was not even on the bench this week. However, PdC may already be convinced (as I am) that our most potent formation will include a key role for Bostock. In the meantime, he is tinkering with the other players, to find the best overall formation. I should think that the only other "certs" as part of a preferred eleven would be wingers Roberts and Ritchie.

I liked what I saw from Rooney when he came on against Orient, definitely spiced things up a bit. I do think we need Jay Macca in the side as well, he has good vision and awareness, and is able to change wing play with some good passes across field to Ritchie. That could well be changed though with someone in front of him who can make things happen, Bostock and Roberts .
We seem to be missing the KEY, somebody who can effectively with authority bring the ball out of midfield, Ferry is good, but its wrong to solely depend on just him. He does link well as we all know with Ritchie, thats fine, but we need to be doing more on the other flank, and apart from the new form of RDV that element has been missing. Lets hop that we can get RDV going with some interplay on that side as he often seems isolated. Bostock would link in well. I think we are getting there, another few weeks as you suggest should get us nearer.
I am concerned about PdC's "blurrey" remark though, after all these weeks of heavy training.

The last two weeks have clearly stretched the most optimistic of us, so it's encouraging to hear Greg Abbott say how relieved he was to get a point against a quality side.
He says he had spoken to Gary Roberts, but did not even attempt to make an offer since ours was way out of his league. Hopefully the board will be rewarded for all the money and patience they have shown.

He is now closer to his final combination, but things keep coming up and getting in the way, the whole Caddis affair was never catered for as that and Cibbochi were seen as sure fire bets for this season. Williams not finding the onion bag was probably not catered for, add to that a few falling outs with players and the tide has ebbed and flowed, but not as was planned, and few early season injuries have also tipped the balance into the negative plain from where he wanted to be.
I would rather it happen now than in game 40 of the season, because now its easier to make up ground and its better to be under the radar than a target on it. The only thing that has been really against him has been his own P.R and that is of his own making, and perhaps talk of England managers jobs, should be better left till he has proven to everyone what he is capable of rather than now.
We will no doubt "get there" this season, and so will PdC in his career advancement, but he will have to wait a while same as we have become accustomed. We usually get one good manager every so often, and then also rans and dross inbetween
So there is still October till April a span of enough months go get the team right and perhaps another run of home clean sheets. Funny old game init..

Why does everytime a player get "dropped" it had to be due to a rift and questions raised if they will ever play again?
.
It's getting ridiculous - "I heard Collins was benched for saying Bananas was his favourite fruit and as PdCis from Italy his is Oranges - so Collins was taught a lesson!"
.
Why can' t people simply use their brain and realise we have built this thing called a SQUAD and with 25 in it and only 18 for matchday - 7 HAVE to miss out!
.
Flint was at fault (or at least involved) in 2 goals in 2 games - so has been dropped - plus Troy is back
.
If he was happy then there is something wrong - so I'm glad he was p1ssed off at missing out!
.
L Rooney by all accounts was rubbish at Preston and now Roberts (one of our main players!) is back he took his place in the squad - just like Ritchie would and did to others when he came back
.
As for Bostock has everyone forgot last year? He didn't play for ages then - PdC probably doesn't think he is fit enough or developed in the position he wants him to play in yet
.
That doesn't mean a rift or an issue - he is here for 6 months min so plenty of time to make an impression
.
As for the mentality comment - is that not just PdC just ramming home the winning mentality?
.
If so is that wrong? As pointed out read the Carlisle boards and managers comments and they are elated with the point - so naturally we should be disappointed!
.
I can see where PdC is coming from and fully understand why he has said he is disappointed (as said above)
.
But for me the improvement in performance and the fact Roberts is back gives me real confidence going forward
.
I'm off to Portsmouth on Tuesday and am really looking forward to it

Same old rubbish from the multiple ID 'Tena for men' brigade. I'm happy with that performance - ripped a solid mid table side to shreds and not victorious only because our (usually excellent) keeper had a bit of a shocker once again... So sorry not to fall in line with the 'Timlin, Bodin, Kennedy, Big Fil and Connell will be fine' brigade but they are gone and replaced by better foootballers... the squad moves forward, the club moves forward and the money men are happy. Keep watching your radios old timers, and remember - Paolo means you!!!
.
Exactly who do you have in your sights? I suppose it must be the current manager. After all, he's been the one doing most of the criticising of players lately. Or do you perhaps think that the manager can say what he likes about our players, while people who are part of the club for a lifetime are supposed to keep their views to themselves?
.
Your reference to "old timers" is as irrelevant as it is disrespectful. I don't think you'd find many of the older posters showing the same disrespect to younger supporters.

Why does everytime a player get "dropped" it had to be due to a rift and questions raised if they will ever play again?

It's getting ridiculous - "I heard Collins was benched for saying Bananas was his favourite fruit and as PdCis from Italy his is Oranges - so Collins was taught a lesson!"

Why can' t people simply use their brain and realise we have built this thing called a SQUAD and with 25 in it and only 18 for matchday - 7 HAVE to miss out!

Flint was at fault (or at least involved) in 2 goals in 2 games - so has been dropped - plus Troy is back

If he was happy then there is something wrong - so I'm glad he was p1ssed off at missing out!

I can see where PdC is coming from and fully understand why he has said he is disappointed (as said above)

But for me the improvement in performance and the fact Roberts is back gives me real confidence going forward

I'm off to Portsmouth on Tuesday and am really looking forward to it

Let's hope it sinks in, but seeing as most are missing their brains I doubt it will.

I've no doubt PDC etc read these forums and the negative few shout very loud, which Is starting to **** a few people off.
We are allowed our own views but lets judge after 10 - 15 games when PDC has a chance to bed in the new players.

On the otherhand, I haven't managed to get to a game since MK due to work, but I can't work out what has happen to our defence? Looked rock solid vs Crawley, MK and Brighton?

But I do think it's alarming that a team that looked divisional championship material a few weeks ago now appears to have a number of "blurry" players with the wrong mentality. It's noticeable that the "anti-moaners" seem to have no problem accepting PDC's public criticism of the players.

You said you had moved from Witney to Bampton 3 weeks ago and then you changed it to 5 weeks ago, your quotes on here refer.
Most people can remember when they moved, unless you perhaps live in a mobile home, in which case I appreciate it is more difficult!
You remain by far and away the biggest multiple poster on here and the fact that you deny it as recently as this evening is really, really sad.
You must really think that all the other posters on here are stupid, sorry Wizard, but you are just SO sad!

He then came back into the reckoning with sub appearances, was then MOM in many eyes at Aldershot, Gillingham and against Port Vale. There were a fair few matches between the JPT and Aldershot when he could be considered "Out of Favour" and yet he has come back this season. Speaks volume in my eyes.
Quite a few managers on this board that will be in line for the job should PDC leave. Who will get it ?????
FFS we are 6 games, which is a current form amount of games, into the season. We have ?? new players, conceded a goal at home for the first time since February, we have played away at Hartlepool, Preston and Carlisle (3 of the longest trips we will have all season) and an 8 point, mid table start is not good enough. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. Which of the current top 6 will be there at the end of the season ? IMO possibly County.
Time to forget departed favourites, they are doing their job elsewhere and in the majority of cases at a lower level. One exception is Caddis, who we should also forget for the time being, but he is still a Town player.
Time to get behind the current group and cheer them up the table, the team at the top in May (when it matters) hopefully will be my team, the Mighty Reds.

Oxon, I take your point about there being no need to panic. 8 points from 6 games hardly represents a crisis."Current form", though, is whatever we want it to be. Yes, overall we've had a decent start. But if you take current form as being the last 4 games in all competitions, it doesn't look too good. I would be less concerned if we had started badly and then taken 7 points from the last three games, rather than the other way round. The last 3 games are more current than the first 3. To be honest, I think the flurry of recent signings is likely to be the cause of the recent poor form. It will probably be just a temporary dip, but if PDC says he has "blurry" players on his hands, and needs to improve their mentality, then I think it's likely that things are still not right in the camp.
I was refering to league form. Cup games tend to see different team selections from both sides and don't, IMO, always provide a good guide.
Two poor performances true but, by the sound of it, a much improved one on Saturday. The home keeper receiving MOM tells a story.
I think Ablett's comments about the physical side are very true. Orient bullied us, we didn't settle and until Rooney's introduction we were second best.
My point is there is a long way to go, 40 matches and 120 points to play for, 80 points from those 120 may well be enough to achieve our goal.
Time of course will tell but in the meantime should we not get behind the Manager and team.

I do get frustrated at times when players are written off after 90 minutes. Guess everyone is entitled to an opinion but there were several players that proved these doubters wrong last season.
