Di Canio reacts to bookmakers' Bolton link (From Swindon Advertiser)

9/15 come on Paolo is that the best you can do?

Wouldn't be surprised if Bolton do make an approach.

Paolo is still learning and in my view there are very few Boards who would pander to his whims in the way our excellent Board has done so far. He is a very talented man without question, but he seems quick to admonish when things don't go exactly to plan, with the current embargo situation a perfect example. He has been allowed to build a substantial squad of players that HE wanted and as no new players can be brought in until the window re-opens, (excepting emergencies) he should, in my opinion, have simply come out and supported the Board and confirmed that unless there was a major disaster, he could manage with what he had anyway. Not, as he seems to have done, come out and demand 'clarity' on the situation. Paolo, I am one of your biggest fans, but this is a two-way street. The Board have supported you 100%, and a little humility and public support for their contribution would not have gone amiss and would have done much to quell the negative comments from some posters on this site.

Its a no-brainer. At the moment Paolo suits us as much as we suit him.

pdc said on saturday that he would stay for ever if the board want him so as per above its a no-brainer hes going nowhere and there are lots of top quality managers without a job so i dont think they are going to pay us off aswell as owen coyle .

Of course he is going to be linked with other positions, his record is phenomenal. Lets hope we can hold onto him for as long as possible, and if the above post is telling the truth (i never heard that interview) then we have many many years under Paolo.

I don't think there are many club chairmen who would take a gamble on him. Maybe two/three in the top leagues. Can't see more than that

Paolo needs to keep his eyes on the prize. Keep working the magic in League 1, keep maturing and improving as a Manager, and he'll get his chance when West Ham or other Premier leagues clubs come knocking.

2 solid seasons with excellent results will improve confidence in him.

I very much doubt that Bolton would have the resources or patience that PDC would need to stop that ship sinking. (They're even worse than City).

Add to that they wouldn't be able to add any new players until January, besides loan players.

If we keep grinding out results here, we could be a division above them next year.

I hope MM does get the job full time he was well shafted by Wolves and they rightly got relegated after he went but they also might had he stayed.

He like Allardyce & Coyle are good at getting teams out of the championship but the clubs they are with are always going to be Prem strugglers

As for Paolo, I think that he knows that he is on a good thing at Swindon. accommodating and skillful Board, a springboard for his media eccentricity and an opportunity to play with his footballing passions.

It will take a bigger fish to tweak his ego.

Funny that, and I do like it, a lot may I say. However, Canioman, let me see, I have him in my mind not as an alternative to Bat Man, but more along the lines of JB, erm, James Bond that is.

Canioman and his Italian sidekick Don the Belly, being sharp suited, gun toting, good guys who take no prisoners. fast cars,fast women, supremely fit, and only drinking red wine and eating pasta by the plate full.

Good point Old Stager - although Chris Wilder was favourite to get one of the managerial jobs available recently (Coventry?) but never made the short list.

All just speculation at the moment, but can you see Paolo working with Phil Gartside? That would be a marriage made in hell.

The good thing about di Canio being a bit of a loose cannon is that whilst the fans of a club might love him the board would be slightly wary of working with such an emotional character. This could possibly rule him out of ever managing at the very highest level.
