DAVID Howell may have found birdies hard to come by in the last year or so, but he's now bagged one for good after proposing to long-term girlfriend Emily Doughty.
In his last European Tour outing at the BMW Asian Open in late April, Howell, missed the cut, finishing nine shots off the leaders.
But with Emily's birthday falling inside the trip to Shanghai, he had more important things on his mind.

Swindon's Ryder Cup star has been seeing the former Buckingham Palace secretary for a number of years, and caddie Nick Mumford said he was delighted for the couple.
He revealed: "David took Emily out to a nice restaurant for her birthday while we were in Shanghai, and took the opportunity to propose then.
"Everyone is really happy for them - they have known each other for a long time and make a great couple.
"I don't think they've talked about any dates yet for the wedding, but I would imagine they'll be discussing it soon.
