WITH the Swindon Skater Hockey Club's Junior Flames team bound for Essen, Germany at the end of the month, to represent Great Britain at the iiSHF Junior European Cup, local hockey kit supplier the Kitstop has helped the team with their preparations.
The iiSHF Junior European Cup is the top international club event for the sport of skater hockey and the Flames will be competing for honours against the top junior teams from Europe.
As a Class A international tournament, the competition rules require that each team member be kitted identically and the Kitstop have supplied essential kit for the team's European adventure.
Shaun Walker, the Kitstop manager, said: "We're very pleased that we could help the Flames with their requirements for their trip to Essen and wish the whole team every success."
The Kitstop, located at the entrance of the ice-rink at The Link Centre, is Swindon's leading supplier of ice, inline and skating equipment and can be contacted by calling 01793 445569.
Flames deputy chairman, Nigel Davies, said: "The club would like to thank the Kitstop for their interest and support, not only with our European trip, but also for all their help throughout our season. It's also great to see a local business actively supporting and encouraging the young sports people of Swindon."
Skater hockey is a fast, exciting team sport, similar to ice hockey, played in indoors sports halls using inline skates and a ball rather than a puck.
Swindon Skater Hockey Club trains on Saturdays (or Friday evenings for the juniors) at the Croft Recreation Centre where all new players, regardless of experience or ability, are always welcome.
For those that wish to give it a try for the first time, the club runs a beginners session from noon-1pm on Saturdays.
The club can provide some loan equipment (helmets, gloves and sticks) for novices, on the day, but bring your own skates.
