MARK Cooper has denied having any knowledge of interest in new Peterborough loan signing Harry Beautyman despite the player himself insisting Swindon were one of the clubs chasing him.

Swindon looking down rather than up to recruit should be of little surprise. Town do, of course, monitor players in non-league, with Ben Gladwin and Raphael Branco two notable captures who have gone on to establish themselves as members of the first team squad, having being picked up from part-timers Marlow and Whitehawk respectively.

However in this case, it appears Beautyman has been wrongly informed, as Cooper denied any knowledge of the midfielder.

“I was not aware of any interest in Harry Beautyman,” said the Town boss. “(It’s a) lovely name I’m not trying to be clever, I just wasn’t aware of any interest.”

Though Beautyman was not apparently on Swindon’s radar, given their success in scouting players that have been missed by others, it is little surprise that Cooper and chairman Lee Power have their feelers out at that level.

For the Town boss, it is a question of timing when bringing them in, implying that scrabbling around for deal on the eve of the loan window is not one of them.

“We’re always monitoring players,” added Cooper. “Sometimes there’s a right time to take them and sometimes there’s a wrong time to take them. When the time is right then we’ll move.”
