IRAQ international Yaser Kasim is looking forward to making his Wembley debut after dealing with the stress of sorting out play-off final tickets for his family and friends.

The 25-year-old midfielder believes the experience he picked up playing in the Iraq team that reached the semi-final of the Asia Cup will stand him in good stead ahead of the League One play-off final against Preston North End.

In fact, the only thing that has been worrying Kasim since Town confirmed their place in the final with a 5-5 draw against Sheffield United in the second leg of their semi-final has been arranging tickets for the final.

“It will be my first time playing at Wembley and I’m very much looking forward to it and hoping for an enjoyable day out,” Kasim told the Advertiser.

“The last game was very crazy and such a high. We have come down a little bit but the last week has been stressful trying to sort out tickets for family and everything like that and now that is done, it is all about the preparation.

“I will have a lot of family and close friends there as I managed to get a few tickets, so it will be good that they get to experience the day.

“Quite a few of the boys have got tickets and have been trying to sort family and friends out, and while it is your day, you want your family to be there to enjoy it with you.”

With ticket requests dealt with, Kasim is now fully focused on the challenge posed by Preston and is confident that if the Robins can control possession, then the result will take care of itself.

He said: “This week, we’ll be looking at what we can do to control the game.

“Our style is very different and I believe if we use that and impact them with our style, there is definitely a chance we’ll be victorious.

“I think the game at Wembley will be completely different to the games we have previously played against Preston. The two teams have progressed and I know that when we played them at the County Ground earlier this season, we dominated.

“If you bring your game, you can dominate them but it’s like a cup final. It’s one game that will bring so much reward and you just never know what can happen in over 90 minutes.”

Kasim, who expects the final to be followed closely by those in the Middle East, thinks that Town have shown their Championship credentials and feels relaxed about the decider.

“I think it will be a feeling of happiness when we step out onto the pitch,” Kasim added. “The last two years, we have worked hard to get to this point and now we have it in our hands to go up a division.

“It would be a huge achievement for us to secure promotion but I also think it would be something that is realistic for the football club because of what we have done in the last two years.”
