SWINDON Town’s temporary training ground is set to be announced next week.
The Robins are due to return for pre-season June and the Advertiser understands that the Beversbrook facility in Calne is one of two locations under consideration, with the other also outside the borough of Swindon.
At the end of last season Town did have a trial run at Beversbrook, but prepared for the play-off final by training on the pitch at the County Ground.
Swindon had struggled for the last few years with former training ground at Liddington, with the pitches particularly susceptible to flooding, forcing them to prepare on the 3G pitches at Lydiard Park Academy at times.
The search for a temporary base has taken priority for Fraser Digby, who is advising Town on matters to do with their training ground, over finding a long-term solution to the issue.
The Advertiser reported back in April that Town were working with the council on eight potential sites for a permanent base, but due to the pressing concern of finding a temporary place to train there has been little development on that front.
