A DECISION on Mark Cooper’s move to Sheffield Wednesday looks likely to be made this week.
The head coach role, which was first mooted by the Owls last week, seems to have piqued the interest of the Town boss and talks have progressed in that regard.
Advertiser sources in Yorkshire have suggested the deal for Carlos Carvalhal is done and the Owls are waiting to sign off on Cooper before announcing the pair as a management team, with the Portuguese in a general manager position.
The only stumbling block on the move is thought to be the size of the compensation package Town would be due. Cooper has a year left on his contract in Swindon and it is thought any deal to take the 46-year-old to Hillsborough would involve a six-figure fee.
Cooper has been Town manager since the summer of 2013 when he took over from Kevin MacDonald.
