PATIENCE will be a virtue for Town fans this summer as they wait for the club’s transfer progress.

Swindon chairman Lee Power has told fans not to expect the club’s transfer business to be concluded imminently as he tries to bring in quality players to rebuild the side.

The chairman indicated he will not be hugely altering the transfer policy employed since his takeover of the club. Town will still rely largely on loan signings as Power looks to provide opportunities to talented youngsters to enhance their reputations.

The County Ground supremo promised the fans they would have a team to proud of come August and the players he would bring in are being courted by teams in loftier positions.

“I understand that supporters get agitated and want to see things done overnight,” Power told BBC Wiltshire. “People have got to remember last season we didn’t take the two lads from Southampton (Jordan Turnbull and Jack Stephens) until late on.

“All I can promise is that everyone is working hard and that we will have a competitive team out on that pitch come August.

“It’s good to have relationships with them (the Premier League clubs), I think that’s the edge I have over most chairman is my contacts in the game.

“The players we bring in on loan we beat Championship teams and other teams to get them. I know supporters would like us to build teams and own players, we do like to own a certain amount of them, like we did with Massimo (Luongo) and Ben (Gladwin).

“That’s way football is at the moment, with budget constraints and not just for us, but for everyone. If you want to break even and the football club to not lose millions every year that’s the way you have to go.”
