THE SWINDON Town Supporters Trust have welcomed Swindon Town’s decision to cut ticket prices, especially the price reductions for young fans.

Town revealed they would be re-categorising their matchday ticket sales and reducing prices across the board.

It is youngsters who are the biggest winners. Under 11s, after paying their one-off £30 Junior Reds membership fee, now go free, whereas last year that offer was only extended to under 10s. Even under 11s who are not Junior Reds can go for £2.

Categories have been stripped down from Gold, Silver and Bronze to A Grade and B Grade. Last season for Gold category matches under 15s paid £12, with Bronze and Silver priced £10.

This season an under 17s ticket for both A and B Grade costs just £8.

There has also been a price cut for adults with A Grade games costing £25, as opposed to Gold Category ones which were priced at £27.

Steve Mytton, TrustSTFC chairman, welcomed the price cut for youngsters as it falls in line their vision for the club.

“I’m delighted to see kids prices reduced to a very affordable price,” he said. “It’s something the Trust have been campaigning for, as we want to see the next generation of fans coming through. Certainly over the last few seasons it’s been too expensive for the occasional game.

“The Junior Reds package remains the best deal in town though, with a one-off payment of £30 my son has enjoyed benefits like the Christmas and end of season parties over the last couple of seasons.

“Adult prices have remained fairly static, hopefully we’ll see a few special ticket promotions throughout the season to help entice new fans in.”

In the announcement on Town’s website says the price cut is to encourage younger supporters.

The Advertiser approached the club for further comment but they declined to respond.
