SWINDON secured their first win of pre-season with a 3-2 triumph over Sydenhams Premier champions Petersfield Town.

First half goals from two trailists, who are thought to be Jack Jebb and Fabian Robert, either side of a strike from Petersfield’s Michael Dixon gave the League One outfit the advantage at half time.

However it was a corner that was Swindon’s downfall as Dan Sackman pounced at the back post after 70 minutes to level the scores for a second time, before Jon Obika broke his pre-season duck to give S the win.

It was Petersfield striker Dixon who was causing trouble in the early stages, and he had the first chance of the game eight minutes in but could only find the side netting.

Kevin Stewart had the first shot on goal for the visitors on the quarter-hour mark, but it was a hopeful attempt that never troubled the keeper.

Swindon’s class told when they found the breakthrough with less than 20 minutes on the clock.

Byrne cut across the pitch and found Stewart, who cut smartly inside before pulling back to trialist Jebb to side foot into the net.

Jebb took the free-kick duties on the half hour mark and forced a spill from Matt Shortt with Jermaine Hylton pouncing but his effort was smothered by Petersfield’s stopper.

The hosts were back on level terms after 36 minutes when a ball from midfield split the defence and Dixon was able to take a touch before slotting past Tyrell Belford.

Swindon struck back on the stroke of half-time when neat build-up play between Nathan Byrne and Jermaine Hylton set up Robert.

There were a host of half time changes at half time, with Jon Obika and new signing Drissa Traore both being given 45 minutes.

Obika had the first chance of a lack-luster second half before the hour mark when he forced a save from the feet of the Petersfield stopper.

There were shouts for a penalty from the hosts in the 65th minute when Will Randall made a clumsy looking challenge in the box but they were turned away by the man in black.

Petersfield were back on level terms for a second time on 68 minutes, when they were gifted a free header from a corner, before Dan Sackman got a toe to the ball at the back post to steer it home.

Obika continued to create problems for the hosts but, despite several chances, he could not find the net to open his account for pre-season until he showed his strength in the 89th minute to fire Town back into the lead for the third time to secure the win.
