JORDAN Stewart is finally on the verge of clinching his deal to Swindon Town.

The Glentoran forward has been literally back and forth between Belfast and Swindon, with deal swinging from on to off and back to on again all week.

Now it seems the finer details of the Northern Irishman's £55,000 move have been tied up, with the add-ons all agreed upon by Wednesday night.

For the 20-year-old his dream of moving into full-time football is going to be realised.

“Touch wood, I am due to sign in the morning,” Stewart told the News Letter on Thursday night.

“It has been a stressful week. The deal was on, and then it was off, and then on again. It has been a brilliantly terrible few days.

“We are almost there, and it is a dream come true for me. It is all I have ever wanted to do, but there were times when you think it will never happen.”

Stewart had returned to his day job at Belfast City Hospital on Thursday morning as negotiations continued on his move to the County Ground, but got a phone call telling him to be at the airport for a 1.15pm flight.

The flight was delayed, meaning he could not sign yesterday, but he is due in Wiltshire this morning to sew up the deal. So long as it is completed before today's noon deadline he will be registered in time for Saturday's trip to Southend.

With all the off-field wrangles now apparantly out of the way Stewart just wants to concentrate on his football.

“I want to make a mark at Swindon. I want to be a success here,” he added.

“I have got my big chance and I aim to take it. I will give it my best shot, and hopefully it is good enough.”
