LAWRENCE Vigouroux was not included in Saturday’s starting XI because of an 'disciplinary internal matter'.

Many in the County Ground were surprised to see Tyrell Belford, who has so far only featured in the Football League Trophy, named as the starting keeper in the 2-1 defeat to Colchester ahead of Vigouroux.

Town might have conceded an increasing amount of goals lately, but little blame had been levelled at the on-loan Liverpool stopper.

When questioned about the reason for picking Belford ahead of Vigouroux in his post-match press duties Town boss Mark Cooper gave a very guarded response, he said only: “It’s a disciplinary internal matter.

“I’m not sure if he is (available on Tuesday).

“It’s come from me and the rest of the players. It won’t (cause an issue now) it’s been dealt with.”

Cooper was pressed for further explanation but did not reveal any more on the subject.

Whoever is between the posts on Tuesday at Doncaster will not be joined by Nathan Thompson, Jonathan Obika or Wes Thomas.

In the 1-0 defeat to Burton, Thompson succumbed again to the groin problem that has ruled him out since August 22 and is a long term absentee.

Obika, who looked set to make his return this weekend after an ankle injury, has relapsed slightly following Tuesday development win over Plymouth Argyle. Thomas limped off after scoring Town’s equaliser on Saturday.

“Obika felt his ankle wasn’t right. He had an injection on Thursday which meant he needed 48 hours before he could play,” explained Cooper.

“(Thomas) felt his hamstring go. It’s not good news, he’s looked very lively since he’s been here. He scored a goal from a corner that we worked on and he’ll be a big miss for us.

“I think we’re having a period when things aren’t particularly going for us. We’re a tight bunch, we’ll stick together, wait for it to turn and we’ll be ok.”
