THE CHALKBOARD

NOT a lot has changed since the departure of Paul Dickov earlier this month, Rovers' set-up has remained largely the same, with player-boss Rob Jones employing a simple 4-4-2.

Experienced campaigner Paul Keegan sits a little deeper than his midfield ally Richie Wellens. The Irishman will look to protect a back four who prefer to stick to their defensive tasks at the expense of attacking adventure.

Wellens is the chief creator in midfield, but his lack of support is one of the reasons for Rovers’ struggles this term. Cameron Stewart’s set-piece ability is Donny’s other main weapon.

Former Town man Andy Williams is struggling to get support up front, being asked to come deep to get service.

A MAN IN FORM - CAMERON STEWART

CAMERON Stewart is only 24, but he has already had 10 clubs in his short career.

Much like Town’s Jonathan Obika, until the striker signed permanently at the County Ground last season, Stewart had played most of his football as a loanee.

Doncaster is his latest temporary home and he is one of the few bright sparks in a season that has already seen Paul Dickov depart.

His set-piece delivery is one of the few areas where Rovers have carried a consistent threat and Stewart’s first goal for the club came via a free-kick at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

A tricky winger, he will look to join attacks from the flanks and cut inside with the ball.

A former England Under 20 international, Stewart can be a dangerous player when in the mood. By all accounts he is enjoying himself at the Keepmoat and will pose the chief threat to Town’s hopes of earning an away win.

TREATMENT ROOM

KEY striker Nathan Tyson is Donny’s biggest miss at present.

Rovers have scored just five goals, a tally you cannot help thinking would be improved if the 33-year-old had not been absent with a hamstring injury since mid-August.

Tyson was slated for a return last week, but picked up a new injury before he could even begin training.

Luke McCullough’s knee injury has forced boss Rob Jones to consider taking the field himself against Town, something he has not done since taking over as manager.

McCullough has not featured since Donny’s League Cup defeat a month ago.

Jones himself has been struggling with a neck injury and has also not played since August.

Harry Forrester made his return from an ankle ligament knock in the defeat at Sheffield United as a substitute. His reappearance was a boost to Jones, who had not expected Forrester to come back for at least another four weeks when first diagnosed.
