SWINDON Town striker Wes Thomas has been ruled out for up to eight weeks after suffering a torn hamstring.

The Birmingham City loanee limped off the County Ground pitch in Swindon’s defeat to Colchester United on Saturday just shy of the half-hour mark.

Having hauled the home side back level, Thomas went down in the middle of the Colchester half with nobody around him holding his left hamstring.

Scans have revealed that he has a grade two hamstring tear and will now spend two months on the sidelines.

“He did (look like he was making an impact). He’s a proper number nine, these things happen,” said boss Mark Cooper, who was boosted by the goalscoring return from injury of Jonathan Obika on Tuesday night to earn his side a point at Doncaster.

“(Wes has a) grade two hamstring tear so that’s going to be six to eight weeks.

“That is football and we have to deal with it.”
